RS is sly, was a sly child and is a sly adult. He cares nothing for the average person. He is trying to wangle his way to the prestige job of PM.
Did you know him when he was growing up, karmalady?
How interesting!! Tell us more.
Why isn’t he addressing parliament as he should do?

Oh and for those who do not know there will be many thousands if not millions who do not pay a penny in council tax because they are on such a low income. My mum was one of them.
People like her will suffer dreadfully. The older you get, the colder you get and need a higher temperature to survive.
Goodness knows what those poor souls are going to do.
Die I supposeAccording to Martin Lewis there was a a discretionary fund for people who may not be covered by the £150 on council tax and on lower incomes. A £140 million fund via local councils.
There are also proposed changes to the Warn Home Discount.
Unless the discretionary fund is ring fenced I doubt it’ll be available - eaten up with other things as councils are so strapped for cash.

Right now, in 2022, we would be horrified if we knew how the rest of the world sees our country, governed by an absurd and clownish Prime Minister, leading corrupt and totally incompetent right wing regime.
Our once great nation has been reduced by Boris Johnson and his cronies, to an international laughing stock.
It would help if they taxed millionaires and other wealthy people, and make second home owners pay council tax and income tax, but as usual this government look after the better off.
It has always annoyed me that there is no long term planning. Over 50 years ago I went to stockholm in january. We were lent a wooden bungalow to stay in for a couple of weeks. I was rather worried when we arrived to find there was only one small electric heater for the total building. However the whole building was extremely well insulated had triple glazing that not only was as it says triple but the space between the glass was quite large. This meant that you not only kept the heat in but there was very little outside sound either. It was fantastic. When I was back in England over the years I tried to get builders to make houses to this level and all you got was that well the other builders wouldnt do it so they wouldnt make money. What drives me mad now is this government are wittering on about electric cards and wind turbines etc. All good in themselves but if there had been a law that any new buildings had to be to this specification, or no planning permission would be given. That would have provided a level playing field we would have been already saving huge amounts of energy and as a side effect there would be less neighbour disputes with noise levels. But as governments have to be reelected they just do not look at long term good plans that may need to be persuasive over a longer time, to encourage people to see the benefits, dont get short term votes and so once again it seems to me to be a male thing too. The wish for immediate or short term gratification compared to a more long term view of life. Any mother running a family will be used to considering which is the better value , such as on a simple level if you have 3 boys 2 years apart, you may buy slightly more expensive jackets as you see them being used by all three children etc. Or if your child is in a class where there are some children going off with measles or chicken pox , you consider all possibilities so do you isolate totally, do you think it is too late, if one child has it would it be better to let them all get it. We use our brains, consider the benefits for everyone short and long term and make our decisions accordingly. I have been a recycler and saved and shared things and made compost etc etc all my life and when I see the waste of money and efforts and the refusal to consider things properly and look at the likely results before spending hard earned money on useless things like track and trace that does not work!! I could have done better that Boorish Johnson with one hand tied behind my back. For a start I am honest, dont lie, and try to think of the wider situation. I could have used the money he wasted on track and trace, and decorating his flat and the rest of his dishonest sleazy deals, put it towards electricity prices or supporting food banks etc. I have lived abroad in various countries and whatever else the BBC world service was trusted to tell the truth and we were seen as honourable people on the whole. during a revolution I was told that the people trusted the word of the world service rather than their own radio link. Now with the Boorish Johnson showing his despicable attitude and cronys and untrustworthy behaviour what is does Britain look like now to other countries?

As you know I worked for a nationalised industry.
On the last working day there was a big get together at the local pub where one of the senior managers got very drunk and spilled the beans on the directors villa in the south of France and how much they had received for our pension fund.
Callistemon21 I worked at the Electricity Council in Millbank Tower back in the early seventies. Top floor where the Chairman had his office. I don't recall a directors' dining area.
This was followed by a two week holiday stint helping the Cordon Bleu cook who organised lunches for directors and senior management at Manbre Sugars in Hammersmith but that wasn't a publicly owned utility.
Sunak should have gone for a windfall tax on the energy companies. Lost my vote (he's my MP) at the last GE and he won't be getting it back any time soon. But why would he or anyone want to be PM after the mess BoJo has made.
A bonus for us today. The French govt have given an inflation bonus of 100 euros to those of us UK pensioners who pay tax on their pensions in France. The net pensions received must be less than 2000 euros per month.

It was much easier when the utilities were nationalised.
Of course it was Bijou. We didn't have to factor in huge director's salaries and profits paid out in dividends to shareholders.
Well, we did, when it was a public utility there was an awful lot of waste and money spent on top directors with their own fine dining area, own kitchen with chefs, big chauffeur-driven cars etc.
Then they got rid of them all which was a step in the right direction. However, the pity was it was all then privatised because it has turned into chaos since.
I agree the majority of MPs will be millionaires. With the high price of property there are a lot of millionaires around

I know Sunak said we all need to accept that belts will be a little tighter this year
He may have said that, Harmonypuss, but why should belts be a little tighter?
Of course, we know that Sunak's won't need to be tightened; neither will the belts of those who have made small fortunes during the pandemic, such as those claiming business loans fraudulently, or those who supplied unusable PPE through the government's VIP channel...

Aaron Bell MP (Newcastle-under-Lyne) has submitted his letter to Mr. Brady.
I do hope that those who are desperate to see Mr. Johnson gone are happy with his replacement.
So do I. I’m dreading tbh. None of those with integrity trustworthiness and intelligence are likely to voted in. In fact most have left.

It doesn't really matter if we're happy or not, GG13.
Whoever replaces him will be dominated by the far right, small state, low regulation arm of the parliamentary party, as they hold the key to the tory parliamentary majority. Any attempt to return to a more consensual, democratic way of governing would split the tory party and cause them to lose power. Which alternative do you think a new tory PM would prefer?
For myself, I'd just be happy to see Johnson dragged out of 10 Downing Street and cast into the oblivion he deserves.
Until we have a GE we're not going to be able to replace the current government with anything better.
I know quite a number of people who live in property band D who have bigger incomes from pensions etc than I do. I live in band E. Only place I could find that wasn't a magnet for rowdy youths. Beginning to think the Poll Tax had something.

Sunak's offer on energy bills is inadequate and badly targeted - it makes a mockery of looking after those in poverty.

He's trying to be the next prime minister I don't trust him an inch we need someone who isn't a millionaire in that position
That could be a difficult one usually if someone is in the position to run for PM they probably have a few bob Keir Starmer is worth 7.7m apparently.
Mum is 92, and talking about switching her heating off and spending evenings in bed! What on earth is this Country coming to? Our energy supply should never have been privatised.

I agree. Heaven forbid he is the next PM.
Apparently this 'loan' is compulsory as are the repayments.
The small print is that the £200 is a loan - the Govt. is gambling on wholesale costs going down future prices will be loaded for customers to repay in the coming years
