Am I correct?

Pocket money

Not Andrew. He is down to his last million or two. The RF have publically said that they will not bank roll him.

So there is no doubt that he had been trying to scrap together as much as possible.

Where did he get the money from?

10 million being talked of

He sold his place in Switzerland I believe.

I think it’s very naive to think otherwise. And there’s more than we can realise locked away. We’ll never know the full story but his accepting that “she was a victim, of abuse” is his get out of jail card he’s a despicable creature who doesn’t give a toss about anyone but himself.

An unwanted painting or a paste necklace should do it ?

That made me laugh!

Penny Junor, the Royal author, said the settlement is likely to come as a "huge relief" to the rest of the Royal family.

"Going to trial, it could have been very, very nasty," she said. "It could have been embarrassing, humiliating, and it would have been huge fodder for the tabloid press.

17 years old Hilltop

How old was she when the 'lost' photo was taken?

Anniebach Tue 15-Feb-22 17:38:44

There has been no harm to the reputation of his family

I don't suppose she cares where the money has come from.

GillT57 Tue 15-Feb-22 17:31:40

The whole episode is distasteful and Andrew has, by his arrogance, caused much harm to the reputation of his family. If one good thing comes out of this, if will be that entitled men who think that the usual standards of behaviour don't apply to them, will maybe think twice before behaving in such a way.

The joint statement hit the correct tone IMO.

If one party offers a reasonable settlement and the other party refuses it could affect the outcome of the case. Judges don’t look kindly on it and the damages may end up much less than the settlement that was refused.

... and both parties would be torn to shreds by opposing lawyers.

lavendermine Tue 15-Feb-22 17:24:34

Yes, I think so.

We will never know I suppose. Prince Andrew has made a substantial donation to a charity of her choice.

Admission of guilt for who? They've both agreed an out of court settlement.

Good point!

Sparklefizz Tue 15-Feb-22 17:14:40

....or it could be that she settled, despite saying she wanted her day in court and would never settle, because the photo was fake. We don't know. I'm no fan of PA and she has been a victim of abuse but I don't think she's a reliable witness and maybe she was advised not to go into court.

Peasblossom Tue 15-Feb-22 17:12:50

No, I don’t think it is necessarily.

Lots of insurance cases and compensation claims get settled out of court because it’s cheaper than going to court.

Also because people don’t want certain things to come out.

If we’re talking about PA and VG, he’s got stuff he doesn’t want to come out. But she doesn’t want anything that will affect her future litigation against other men. Like having faked evidence.

One assumes some sort of clause is in place that prevents any further ‘ revelations ‘ to surface in the next however many years. .

Nandalot Tue 15-Feb-22 17:06:57

I do think he settled because of what the proceedings might throw up about his hedonistic lifestyle.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 15-Feb-22 17:00:23

Usually. I reckon the settlement was massive.
