I like the bit of the honours system where 'ordinary' people get gongs for things like fostering lots of children, or running youth clubs for 50 years - that sort of thing. I think that people who give service to the community should be honoured, and would actually like to see more of that.
I'm far less keen on the ones where already lauded types are given more rewards for things that are less obviously for the benefit of society at large.
I have no idea whether Charles would have been personally responsible for any corruption. Isn't it a bit like when someone's accountant is creative or incompetent and things go wrong? People hire others so that they don't have to think about finance or other difficult areas, and it's debatable whether they should be held to account for someone else's incompetence or criminality. If he is responsible though, the RF are in serious trouble.
The problem is that after so many scandals at 'the top' (in government and elsewhere) it is so difficult to know who or what to believe. Trust has been shattered, and it's tragic. I don't know how it's going to be regained, but until it is, the whole UK tradition of rule by consent is under threat.
