The most flippant people I have ever met have been members of our armed forces in the days before deployment to war zones.

Their humour is dark, but it’s what gets them through.

If you are looking for a national leader it seems better to chose a professional comedian, like Zelensky, rather than an amateur comedian, no matter how good he might have been on HIGNFY.

Very dirty business. I'd have thought though that with Russia itself there must be plans afoot to deal with Putin. He's causing massive problems for the Russian people with his deluded behaviour.

Chris Bryant pointed out in parliament yesterday that it’s Ukraine, not ‘the’ Ukraine. Something I know I ‘m guilty of.I tend to think of it as being like eg ‘the Crimea’, although that’s probably wrong, too.
