I am so shocked at the death of cricketer Shane Warne, only 52 years old. He died at beautiful Koh Samui in Thailand, they are thinking probably a heart attack. He was a legend and a quintessential Aussie.

Hard living perhaps. But too young.

A legend

RIP Warnie

I was shocked to read of his death yesterday. He had Covid last August and was put onto a ‘special type of ventilator’ he said afterwards to help mitigate the possibility of long-Covid. He had been double jabbed. Bloggers are speculating he had myocarditis. Which plants a seed of doubt especially as he was only 52y and an ex-professional sportsperson. I wonder if a post mortem will be performed?

Regardless, my thoughts are with his family, friends and many fans at this sad time. Taken too soon. RIP Shane Warne. A true entertainer.

Australia must be in shock.
He was almost a National Treasure in the UK.
RIP Warner

Apologies if this is seen as derailing, but yesterday I read the posts in the comments section of the online news reports of Warne’s death.
I was surprised at the amount of anti vax bunkum.

When I read the title f this thread I thought no it couldn't be, he's too young. To me he still seems a very recent and young player. I know he'd retired but he still was so young . RIP.

Such a shame, he's the second Aussie Cricketer to pass away this week. Rodney Marsh died too. Both amazing talent and characters. RIP both.

I was shocked. I’d read his tweet about Rod Marsh and then suddenly Shane was gone as well. I remember him as the best spin bowler I’ve ever seen.

They are re naming the MCG great southern stand for him. Shane Warne stadium. Many will go to his state funeral.

I was very sorry to hear this. He was very young.

It was a shock to hear this and the fact that he was a sportsman and only 52.

Ths is interesting and worrying about myocarditis which is a possible symptom of Covid.

RIP Shane Warne

Shane Warne was such a character. Rod Marsh, too. It’s very sad.

I gather Shane didn’t lead the healthiest lifestyle - he smoked and like to eat things such as lasagna sandwiches! He packed a lot of life into his 52 years, though. ❤️

Rosalyn69 Sat 05-Mar-22 13:27:04

He’s a great loss. I don’t think speculating on his cause of death is appropriate at this time. He was a superb cricketer. He deserves a state funeral. Very sad. ?

Callistemon21 Sat 05-Mar-22 14:15:03

It is a fact that he had had Covid and was briefly on a ventilator last year despite being double vaccinated.
