Sad to hear my favourite store is continuing to trade in Russia.Do you think a boycott will help them change their minds ?

Esspee

Tui, the holiday firm had, as it’s majority shareholder, Alexey Mordashov. He has transferred his shares to his wife and quit Tui’s supervisory board.
To me transferring his shares within the family means nothing so I hope everyone with a holiday booked with Tui reconsiders whether they wish to support the company.

I agree, meaningless. I can’t imagine people who have already booked with Tui cancelling their holidays and losing their deposits but I hope those who haven’t yet booked choose another company.

Uniqlo has done a U-turn now

I did write to the company and got a reply to say there would be a statement; still waiting for that.

Uniqlo have now said that they are suspending operations in Russia - on the BBC website.

pepper59 I trust you boycott every cafe and supermarket in the U.K. for selling non dairy milks - what’s wrong with choice?

vegansrock Thu 10-Mar-22 09:29:53

If you want to boycott Russian funded organisations maybe start with the conservative party.

Shandy57 Thu 10-Mar-22 09:18:46

I am very glad companies are pulling out. Bombing a maternity hospital is a horrific war crime and I hope the Russian people take Putin down, he is a monster.

StoneofDestiny Thu 10-Mar-22 09:00:00

Yes M’Donalds have bowed to public pressure now. Uniqlo says their clothes are essential - shame they don’t donate them to Ukraine instead then!

MickyD Thu 10-Mar-22 08:49:07

Sainsburys, Aldi and Waitrose have removed all Russian products from their shelves.

Callistemon
Watching an interview this morning with an editor of an online Russian newspaper who stated that 2/3 of Russians get their news from the state tv/ radio.

Muver Thu 10-Mar-22 06:17:40

My sister in law works in asda and she said they have took everything Russian of their shelves and will not be selling

Mamma7 Thu 10-Mar-22 00:22:12

Yes - it’s a no brainer for me!

But what if Putins propaganda machine convinces his people that it’s our fault that they’re going without.
Just saying ?

Yes MacDonald's have, I think from today.

They have already started blaming the USA and the West for this - if only the Russian people had access to balanced news.

MissAdventure Wed 09-Mar-22 19:22:47

Yes, they have.

CarrieAnn Wed 09-Mar-22 19:14:07

I thought McDonald's had stopped trading in Russia or have I misheard that

TiggyW Wed 09-Mar-22 17:18:29

I hope Aldi hasn’t got any Russian connections!!! ?

Mummer Wed 09-Mar-22 17:17:09

I rubbish them on surveys for reasons of them supporting the slaughter of innocent children in Ukraine

Desire Wed 09-Mar-22 17:06:03

you do understand that if you boycott these companies in the UK the most impacted will be British workers who will certainly lose jobs to cover for losses... their bosses have enough money not to worry for ages..

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 09-Mar-22 17:04:20

I’m sure he’ll try, but you can only fool some of the people some of the time.

I think McDonalds are being responsible in continuing to pay their staff as their withdrawal is only temporary at present. However being unable to eat their favourite junk food will hit those Russians who could afford it.

OldHag Wed 09-Mar-22 16:49:30

I must admit to having mixed feelings about what McDonalds have said with regard to continuing to pay their staff, Under other circumstances I would think this a good thing, but surely the aim of withdrawing services etc from Russia, is to make the Russian people suffer, and ultimately do whatever they can to get Putin and his cronies out of office, isn't it?

Sue450 Wed 09-Mar-22 16:35:34

I heard Tesco were still dealing with them too.

MamaB247 Wed 09-Mar-22 16:13:02

Macdonald have pulled out along with Starbucks and many others.
OP: I think every global company should pull out let the Russian people realise what Putin is doing to them. Even if you think your only a small impact write to CEO explain your reason and boycott every company with a connection to Russia
