Question Time: The former Prime Minister of Denmark Helle Thorning-Schmidt called out the government's amazing claim that the UK is leading the efforts against Russia right now.

It will make no difference. No matter how many times the things they say are fact checked and found to be lies they still continue to repeat them.

And what is more worrying is that people continue to believe these lies.

I get so cross when the government ministers go on about with the", we were first, we were best claims ". We all know they aren't and they weren't. This boasting makes them sound like little kids in the playground. Still it matches up with their pathetic behaviour in P.M.'s questions.
It is time we had a government of grown ups.

We have the same sort of information war from our government that Russia has inflicted on their own country and the world. Why? We have always had spin - making the truth look better. This isn't spin. It's a lie, although calling it a lie doesn't seem to be enough because it is so manipulative of our thoughts and emotions.

We are told we are "leading the world"; when we are seen to be unable to organise or lead ourselves, let alone anyone else. We were told the government "put it arms around the care homes" while the truth was that they were allowing people to die and doing nothing to prevent it. We are told about our generosity towards the Ukrainians fleeing the war while making it impossible for them to come here.

Why are people still willing to let them do this?

We can only hope that the majority of Russians don't believe a single word that comes from their leaders just as we don't here. Unfortunately they've been being brainwashed for a long time so their savvy might take longer to emerge. I seriously admire the street protesters who do so knowing the awful fate that could befall them immediately. Have wondered if I have that kind of courage. Mmmmmm......

I agree about the brave Russians who go out to protest. It must take a lot of courage.

I don't know many Russians, but those I do know seem to believe the Russian propaganda, even though they have a child (adult) living in the UK, who is angry, upset and frustrated with their stance, telling them otherwise.

Or maybe they daren't admit to believing anything else, as phones can be listened in on, and walls can have ears in their big apartment buildings.

I like to imagine that younger Russians, especially the better-educated, are more selective in what they believe, but even if they are, it is dangerous to openly voice doubt or criticism of Putin's regime.

When you compare the Russian Information War and the one going on in our own country it is so much easier to understand why people living in Russia believe it than it is to understand people here not realising they are being treated in the same way.

I am sure you are right, Oldnproud and many will not dare voice any contradictory thought in Russia. But this government is trying to stop people protesting here too.

Countries often drift into Dictatorship. We seem to be doing just that.

Just home from U3A Discussion group. Most of the people there, express their disgust at the Russian Propaganda machine, whilst repeating (as if it is absolute fact) all the rubbish we are fed over here.
Think UK seems to be far better at disguising their falsehoods thank the Russians, which makes them all the more dangerous.
My admiration for those extraordinary brave souls in Russia who are out there opposing the war know no bounds. Do not think I would be as courageous.

Just saw Johnson being ‘interviewed’ by Beth Rigby on Sky News and he totally ignored her questions, just ranted on saying what he wanted to.

In Britain we are free to look for information that contradicts government information and to express contrary views.

Anyone care to move to Russia and try to do the same there?
