Joe Biden won’t. Boris Johnson won’t. Ben Wallace won’t. Nor will, as far as we know, every other leader of a Nato member country. However, it is clear that Nicola Sturgeon just might.
Might do what, you ask? Consider backing a Nato no-fly zone over Ukraine, that’s what. Even if such an action risked a major escalation of the West’s dispute with a nuclear-tipped Russia.
The First Minister thinks that having warplanes, including British ones, taking on, and possibly shooting down, Vladimir Putin’s planes is worth “serious consideration”.
It’s a truly astonishing suggestion that was being described by enemies and one-time supporters alike as another piece of grandstanding by someone who appears to be desperately seeking a niche for herself on the international stage.

I forgot to add that oor Dougie, is qualified football official, a top-level assistant referee in his spare time.

that pillar of righteousness that is Douglas Ross?
Who is he volver?
I'm asking very quietly because I should perhaps knowHe has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Moray since 2017. In addition to his seat in Westminster, he serves as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Highlands and Islands, having been elected in 2021.
DH and I love to watch his performance at First Minister's question time. It is a major highlight of our week.
I will say no more.
Thanks Marydoll
I realise who he is now
How can he do two jobs properly?
Our MP did for a while but did forego one salary, then resigned as AM.

Sorry Callistemon, but that is just the best response I could have hoped for, I hope you take that in the spirit it's meant.
Douglas Ross is the leader of the Scottish Tories and thinks he's going to be the next First Minister of Scotland. Wave goodbye to that, Dougie. But never mind, they'll get you a knighthood instead.

DaisyAnne I was making a 'rediculous' comment. I'm just another irritated Scot who'd be more impressed if she spent less time on self promotion and more on trying to make up for the mess her 'government' have made of so many aspects of Scottish life.
So do you believe Scotland is or isn't interested in helping Ukraine. If it is surely she needs to answer the question she was asked and should have that conversation in a way it gets out to those she is employed by.
Why is that "self-promotion"?
Well while we're waiting for the answer that never comes, can we just diverge briefly into that pillar of righteousness that is Douglas Ross? He’s withdrawn his letter asking Johnson to resign. It would be wrong for him to leave during war in Europe, he says. But he wanted Sturgeon to resign in the middle of a pandemic and he thought that Johnson wasn’t even good enough to lead in time of peace, let alone war. Twitter is not being kind. ?
Right, back to the topic in hand.
If you mean the 6 nations Yammy Ireland play tomorrow..

And - what did he say?
If you think I'm going to spend all evening googling the answers to your goading, Petera, then think again.
I wasn't goading, I was stating a fact.
Which you obviously didn't like.
What you're doing is call goadyfuckery, apparently.
You learn something new every day on GN.
What you said was: "If it is not within their remit, then yes, of course."
I'm very happy to stop if that's what you want, but you said that of course you'd call them out so I'm giving you the chance.
IDS said that a no fly zone was a bad idea.

But there’s the nub of the matter vegansrock ... Nicola Sturgeon ought not, in my opinion, have used her platform to publicly ‘consider it’. What planet is she on?
Why not? We need to say that behaviours of the Russians will not go unpunished. We need them to know it is being considered and what is being considered.
Why do you think we should not be doing this? Nicola Sturgeon is the leader of a separate country. It is her job to let them know the governments direction of thinking. Why do you think it isn't?I can't agree DaisyAnne
Nicola Sturgeon is First Minister of just one of the countries of a United Kingdom and defence is one area which is not devolved. Defence is the responsibility of the Government of the United Kingdom.
She and other First Ministers should, however, be able to discuss this sensitive matter with UK Ministers in private.
We should be able to present a united front, not opinions from those with no responsibility for defence which could prove to be dangerous.
I look forward to your posts calling out any politician, with the possible exception of the defence secretary and the prime minister, who states an opinion - one way or the other - on the issue.
If it is not within their remit, then yes, of course.
It could be seen by the Russians as provocation.
OK let's start then, one at a time. The first one's easy:
Dominic Raab on Sophie Ridge - within or without his remit?

I love how you assume I’ve been drinking this afternoon Gill57. Yet another assumption.
Wrong again!
That said, we will share a bottle of Rioja with our slo cook curry later this evening.
Salud! ??Fair enough. I was just judging you by my standards. Enjoy your dinner.
Gill ?
I've had lunch out with friends but only had a soft drink.
Otherwise I might have embarrassed myself by nodding off

Sorry, Somerset and the Bristol Channel - I'm sure Coastpath knew what I meant but others may not ?
Urmstongran The SNP get returned to power in an election, with a minority vote
And at last I agree with you, it was a minority vote - of 47.7% . Not like Johnson's vote of 43.6%, oh wait...
Coastpath
A tourist once asked me if the coast they could see across the Bristol Channel from Somerset was France.
Coastpath we've been to England today and, looking across the Channel, it was as if Wales had sailed away into the Atlantic
It was nowhere to be seen.
If a goads a stick to move animals along it would be a twitch or a cebby here or a shepherd's crook all the farmers walk around with them and their flat caps.
We're on Italian vino and pasta tonight to watch the Rugby. I'll be shouting for the Irish I've got lots of Irish forbears. They are quick to rise as well and get the wrong end of the stick.
STILL doesn’t admit that her OP did not reflect what NS said . What is the point ?
Thank you Gill57 some genuine kindness at last.
And from you FannyC.
I appreciate it - it’s nice.
