Some people may say that the timing of this is opportune. Good to know that being an MP is actually a part time job.

Of course a war is a great time to push things like this through when everybody is concentrating on the plight of the Ukrainians.

What a surprise! They obviously can’t afford to live on the pittance they ‘earn’.

The register of MPs’ interests shows that more than 90 out of 360 Tories have extra jobs on top of their work in parliament, compared with three from Labour. They are overwhelmingly older and 86% are men. The highest earners were all former cabinet ministers.

Another good election banner for Labour, as it’s slipping under the radar at the moment. They will have a field day.

Well, there’s a surprise, NOT!

Extract from a comment by a political editor at the Guardian

'But like the farrago over Downing Street parties during lockdown, the prime minister’s change of heart – if such it is – over MPs’ second jobs appears to fit a longstanding pattern, in which he says whatever it takes to get out of a tight spot, and thinks nothing of reversing course later.'

Just about sums it up really.
