Badger cull goes on

My family has a Crest (posh!!) Which is a badger under an oak tree so I feel an affiliation with badgers. I have never seen one in the wild, though my DD saw one at Centre Parcs last December. I think they are magnificent creatures . It seems a tragedy to cull them, though I appreciate why it is deemed necessary in some areas. I just desperately wish another solution to the ongoing TB problem could be found. Are our scientists really trying or is it just easier and cheaper to kill these innocent animals.

I've only ever seen one badger, and it was amazing.
I heard it's nails scritching along the road behind me and turned around.
It was big and very broad: I was quite surprised at the width of it's shoulders, and how sturdy it was.

There seems to be a lot of evidence that badger culls are not the solution, so surely it is illegal to kill so many of our native animals. Aren't there any laws to protect them? People would be up in arms if they tried killing sparrow hawks because of their devastating effect on smaller wild bird life. Oh no, they are wonderful creatures who must be protected.
