Are the Royal Family losing their touch?

A couple of weeks ago we had the disastrous PR associated with the Caribbean tour, and now the judgement of the Queen is being questioned, for giving Prince Andrew such a prominent role in the Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service.

The position of the Royal Family depends very strongly on their acceptance by, and the support of, the public both here and overseas; are they losing that?

MissAdventure

His,statement confirms that he knew his pal sex trafficked young girls.

You'd think he'd have the common sense to do some checking up.

He always knowingly associates himself with dodgy types. That's what gets him into a right mess. That's why he shouldn't play a prominent part in the RF. Why can't the Queen see this.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:16:49

That is NOT what I meant.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:19:38

Some of us have been involved with helping those who have not had there voices heard, who have only see this seedy side of life, who of you are out there calling out those who use & abuse day after day ?

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:24:56

Well, not me, that's for sure it doesnt mean I cant express an opinion on powerful men abusing those with less status.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:26:33

Just the powerful ? What sort of powerful ?

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:28:42

Nope, not just the powerful.

Older, richer, with mansions, castles, planes and friends in high places type of powerful.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:29:30

Oh, and I suppose the odd 12 million helps, too.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:30:06

They are ALL powerful if they are using & abusing women , the rich , the poor, the violent etc etc

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:32:11

Some are more powerful than others, I'd say.
At a tender age, I'd be more likely to be taken in by a prince than Brian across the road who works in Tesco.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:33:00

Really?

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:34:40

Yes, really.
It's only since reading this thread that I realise I almost was taken in by a well dressed businessman offering a reasonable sounding proposition, 40 years ago.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:37:58

Sadly they come in all shapes & sizes & backgrounds .But thankfully there are many wonderful men out there .
.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:41:51

Yes, I realise all of those points. I'm not denying them, but Epstein's set up was a more or less a niche type of thing.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:43:14

And sadly goes on to some degree or otherthroughout the world .

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:44:58

Agreed again.
That doesnt mean I don't hold Epstein and co in contempt.

Bridgeit Mon 04-Apr-22 22:46:09

Exactly , as we all do or should do.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 22:47:16

Oh good.
I'm glad we're in agreement. smile

Last two days of their tour stayed at luxury penthouse 19k a night.

The taxpayers of the Bahamas paid for William & Kate's luxury 3-bedroom penthouse suite.

"Accommodation costs for two nights will be borne by the government of The Bahamas"

Bridgeit Wed 06-Apr-22 11:00:27

I don’t get how anything can cost that much , it is obscene, but presumably there is an upside to them being visited.
I will give an example ie In The West Country & in Cornwall there are so many folks who cannot afford to buy a house/ home in their own area.( or even rent) but they need the money generated by tourists visiting a popular holiday destination .

Anniebach Wed 06-Apr-22 11:33:53

Wonder who owns the penthouse!

We can even find out what they had for dinner.

Caleo Wed 06-Apr-22 12:16:01

If it was "family stuff" (Urmstongran) the Windsor family would have held it in the chapel at Windsor Castle not in a property of the Church of England.

JaneJudge Wed 06-Apr-22 12:22:19

so for a 2 night mini break they paid £6,228 more than the average wage in the UK?

JaneJudge Wed 06-Apr-22 12:23:11

the average annual wage that is
it's absolutely vulgar that we still sub them
