How very sad June Brown has died at age 95 she will be missed I’m sure. RIP ?

... Dot Cotton... "Well, I'm not one to gossip, you know, but..."

She was perfect in that role. Unfortunately, Eastenders has now become unwatchable for me...

RIP dear lady.

Oh yes, Dot’s Nick!
“He is a good boy really” !

Sad to hear the news about June Brown but it sounds as if she had a good fulfilling life with her long acting career, along of course with her large family, including possibly given her age, great grandchildren to bring her joy.

I watched years ago when dirty Den was in it. She was a wonderful totally believable character actress.

Deedaa Mon 04-Apr-22 21:14:15

Very sad. She seemed to be a lovely lady and was perfect as Dot Cotton.

I used to be an avid watcher years ago, when her son, Nick, used to pop up.
"Ello Ma..."

I think she was a marvellous actress, she played many parts over the years.I do not watch EE now it has descended into rubbish like Corrie, but June Brown was the best in it.
er husband, I cannot remember his name but think it was Bob Arnold, played Tom Forrest in the Archers

I remember her in Eastenders when I watched it (not any more!) but I also saw her as Mrs Danvers in Rebecca on the stage.

crazyH

I think she had great Wit and Wisdom ….

Me too.
She always seemed like someone who would be easy to have a cuppa and chat with.

Sad news, but a long life. R.I.P a lovely lady and great actress.

RIP June. I never watch EastEnders but have seen clips obviously. I saw some sort of documentary with her in it once. She had a cigarette in one hand and a glass of wine in the other!
Apparently she became friendly with Lady Gaga after their Graham Norton appearance.

grannydarkhair Mon 04-Apr-22 17:23:00

I watched an episode of Graham Norton the other day that she was in, she was very funny and a great guest. I used to watch Eastenders years ago and always thought she was the best actor in it.

Dot and Jim Branning were a lovely couple.
She was also good in scenes with Doctor Legge.

JaneJudge Mon 04-Apr-22 16:31:36

She had 6 children in 7 years and one of her boys died as a baby. She was very open about it

Urmstongran Mon 04-Apr-22 16:29:57

The episode was called ‘Pretty Baby’ and aired in January 2008.

RIP June Brown.

timetogo2016 Mon 04-Apr-22 16:25:18

More sad news,RIP June Brown.

Urmstongran Mon 04-Apr-22 16:23:02

Apparently she had 6 children - probably all pensioners by now. Sad time for them. You miss our mum even if she had a long life.

I remember as Dot Cotton on East Enders she got an award for an episode where she was completely solo, talking about her ‘life’ into a tape recorder so that her (soap) husband, who was poorly after a stroke could listen to it. I might look up that episode on YouTube later.

RIP June Brown

I didn't watch East Enders but I remember her on WDYTYA - the oldest person to take part. Perhaps they will repeat it as it was a very interesting programme.

Although it’s always sad to read of a well known face dying She has had a very long and fruitful life and as a long time chain smoker I think she’s been very very lucky
She will be missed although I don’t watch EE

wildswan16 Mon 04-Apr-22 13:37:46

She always came over as a really lovely lady. I hope she enjoyed her life as much as we enjoyed her performances.

lemsip Mon 04-Apr-22 13:36:57

oh dear, thanks for posting. 95 a long life.
