How the tide can turn eh?

That's pretty impressive for a 'Tory' chancellor. Less popular than a useless, kneeling, Labour leader. We He's had some pretty stiff competition from his own party too.

Oh the moral outrage at the leak !! Calling it criminal and launching an investigation - presumably at the taxpayers expense. So morally he himself has done nothing wrong then ? It was OK not to declare his wife’s £700m interest in the Indian based IT firm which reportedly had no less than 15 different meetings with senior ministers, including the Prime Minister, and awarded lucrative government contracts. No conflict of interest there then !!

The photo of the garden party was taken from his office. I’m not sure why you would WANT someone to back up Johnson re partygate? Back him up about what? Partying while people attended funerals alone? Just so we know what an utter entitled bastard he is?

I’ve never thought he was a good a choice of chancellor for times are are going to see many, many more people living in poverty. What does 12 houses Sunak know about the lives of ordinary people? His outrage at the publication of his family’s legal use of tax loopholes just demonstrates his sense of entitlement.

Just read that other companies that she has an interest in claimed furlough money but then went bankrupt owing people vast amounts of money. It just gets worse.

I think he will be gone in a few weeks. I liked him at first but when he didn't back Boris up re partygate I changed my mind. Who will take his place?

Why a taxpayers-funded inquiry into his financial affairs? Why did Sunak not declare as one of his interests his wife’s company which holds government contracts? Why is he more concerned about the leak than the ethics of his position? I think a lot of this stuff about his wife was in Private Eye a year ago so who cares who leaked it? - good on them if it reveals more government dodgy dealings and questionable connections.

I think he should resign and I’m appalled at the whole thing. Having said that, I think he’s actually a far more decent human being than Johnson ( who should have resigned several times)

Yes, I thought so too.

However, he's not gone from hero to zero
It's more from Dishy Rishi to Fishy Rishi

Urmstongran Sun 10-Apr-22 21:24:03

I think he’s toast now.

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 21:17:02

He's about 2 years too late.

Jaxjacky Sun 10-Apr-22 21:09:53

He has written to the PM asking to be referred for an independent investigation into his financial affairs.

The political pundits are putting money on Sajid Javid coming back as chancellor. So who would be health, Hunt ?

Is anyone qualified. Did this one slipped under the rhyming radar ?

Smileless2012 Sun 10-Apr-22 19:36:27

You're on fire MissAgrin.

Casdon Sun 10-Apr-22 18:55:43

MissAdventure very quick!

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 18:49:21

Is that cockney rhyming slang?

MayBee70 Sun 10-Apr-22 18:02:15

Is that the Javid who claimed 6 years of being non dom when he was a banker?

I think he'll resign.
He feels entitled enough to be peeved about all this.

It's not as if he's hanging on for his pension, is it!

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 17:43:38

I think there will be more to come out, yet.

Urmstongran Sun 10-Apr-22 17:36:49

I agree with you MissA. Talk about not reading the room!

Smileless2012 Sun 10-Apr-22 17:03:00

He isn't telling anyone in the same position as him and his wife, not to do as they have done, so how is this a case of don't do as I do, do as I say?

Casdon Sun 10-Apr-22 16:54:44

Sunak no longer has a green card according to the news, he gave it up last year.
I’ve just read that there’s going to be a Whitehall inquiry into how his wife’s tax status was leaked to the press.

MerylStreep Sun 10-Apr-22 16:54:40

How could he be negotiating a good trade deal with America when he had one foot in their camp

Pammie1 Sun 10-Apr-22 16:54:03

Smileless2012

That's always been my understanding Maizie. Being a green card holder means you can work and live in the USA, if you choose too, it doesn't mean you have too.

Why is he "the architect of his own doom" Pammiel? He hasn't done anything illegal and neither has his wife. Personal information has been deliberately leaked it would appear, to bring him down.

It might not be illegal but it’s immoral. It’s another case of don’t do as I do, do as I say.
