I want him to leave parliament in such disgrace that even the after dinner speaking circuit won’t want him. Given that a justice minister has resigned his post due to partygate surely the Attorney General and Raab should follow suit.

The way I see it the Tory party (and its supporters) is divided. There are the "traditional" shire Tories (many of whom are socially quite liberal) and the new "red wall" UKIP-lite Tories. They have different agendas.

The problem for the party is choosing somebody who can keep both sides onside. Johnson is ideal because he doesn't really believe in anything except himself and will do/say whatever needs doing at the time to keep people happy.

He'll be gone by the time results are actually needed and he's made a mess of the country. He can make loads of money on the after dinner/talkshow circuit, telling jokes about how much fun it all was.

I don't think that would make any difference, essspee.

Johnson doesn't give a toss what people think of him. He's in there, in the top job, raking in the bribe money donations and the freebies and generally having a jolly time being top dog. He knows he can't be removed by any means other than force..

And once the Police & Criminal Evidence bill becomes law the riot police will be sent in to silence the shouters... and if the protest is silent, they'll have them for 'bein annoyin'

…….but if his party members felt that they would be out looking for work after the next election surely some of them would grow a backbone and write that letter…..

Well done. Wolfson! A Minister with integrity and regard for the rule of law.

We have done exactly the same! Our MP is a fine upstanding conservative, but being let down left, right and centre by his colleagues. It must be extremely embarrassing for him to be put in this position. My OH says he will spoil the paper at the next election because they have to be counted anyway. What a sad and sorry state the country is in. Wish we had stayed in LBF! wine

Perhaps peaceful demonstrations all over the country shouting Tories out! Tories out! might persuade the wimps who feel uncomfortable condemning their leaders that their seats are at risk if there is a complete rejection of their party at the next election (as there most certainly will be if the Augean stable is not cleared out.)

Grany

Funny how monarchists say “oh look at that country or that country to see what an awful idea a republic is”, yet now we have a law breaking PM and no way to get rid of him unless his own acolytes turn. A parliament made weak by crown powers, a head of state unable to get involved

Really, Grany, once the rule of law has been broken by the incumbent of any high office, nothing and nobody has the power to remove them, especially if they have the police and the army on their side.

Republics are as subject to coups as monarchies.

What Johnson is doing is a coup.

Good to see some integrity being shown.

rosie1959 Thu 14-Apr-22 09:12:53

That would be unfortunate as usually the only people to suffer are the police force and any property that is damaged

I can see civil unrest happening, especially as the Conservatives are allowing the energy companies to make even bigger profits at the expense of every man, woman and child in the UK.

I hope you’re right Esspee. We have had 12 years Tory misrule now. Our public services are being deliberately run down. Social problems escalating, increasing divide between rich and poor, north and south. We are polarised in a way I don’t believe I’ve seen before
It’s local elections but let’s hope they’re used to tell this corrupt lot how angry we are

Esspee Thu 14-Apr-22 07:59:26

I have written to Conservatives MPs making my feelings clear and telling them that their party will be wiped out at the next election if they don't remove the corruption.

rosie1959 Thu 14-Apr-22 07:15:51

We can't do anything that's up to Conservative politicians

Esspee Thu 14-Apr-22 06:32:43

Thankfully one Conservative in government has principles.

What can we do to get rid of this morally corrupt bunch?
