One would hope that that would be enough to send the letters flooding in to the 1922 committee. There must be some decent tory MPs, surely, who are furious at the appalling things they are to do to save Johnson's worthless skin.

I should point out, Casdon, that I have offered my respect to GG13 on several occasions regarding her political homelessness. Today I'm just mad at all the enablers of this dreadful abortion of a government.

Also the name dropping. We had already been told that Johnson would start his ‘apology’ by saying he had just been on the phone to Biden ( or someone like that) before he went to the party. I mean, what was all that about? A sort of ‘I’ve got friends in high places, y’know’. Did he manage to slip in vaccine roll out as well, or was that one of his colleagues?

Claiming to be politically homeless now isn't really an exoneration. We were warned, we were repeatedly warned, what a vote that would empower Johnson would do. But tory voters just went ahead and did it.

I like many others are politically homeless until such time the Conservatives regroup and reform or I have a credible candidate in my constituency from another party who’s manifesto I could support.

My constituency MP is working extremely hard on their constituents behalf, thank you.

I don’t agree MaizieD. It takes more bottle to say you voted Tory, but don’t support the current government than it does for those of us who never did to condemn what they are doing. Anybody who still clings in there in the face of the evidence we now have about Boris et al is deluding themselves, but there’s no need to attack those who are honest enough to say they are now politically homeless.

Johnson"s ridiculous hairstyle is the least objectionable thing about him. He is a corrupt, thoroughly dishonest immoral narcissist who shames the office of Prime Minister and is an utter disgrace to our country.

Well that saves me writing anything else today.

For what it’s worth I am politically homeless, that is unless there is a radical shake up of the top end of Mr.Johnson’s Government.

I use the phrase Mr.Johnson’s Government as I do not recognise what I consider to be Conservative grass roots values amongst the current cohort.

At the recent Conservative Party conference Johnson said in a speech that the UK has the fastest growing economy of the G7 countries. The IMF forecasts that the UK will have the slowest. Slower than the US, Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Canada.

Our GDP is forecast to rise just 1.2% next year. 'Horrific' fuel price increases could put 40% of households in poverty and inflation is set to outstrip our peers.

This made me think about all those posts excusing our government with 'Things are bad everywhere and Boris is doing his best'. Everyone else is obviously doing better.

One chaotic and dishonest PM will not make me feel ashamed to be British.

But we don't have just him, do we? We have a Cabinet with a vicious and vindictive Home Secretary, a SoS for Health who is indifferent to the nation's health and is destroying the NHS, a Chancellor who has raised taxation on the poor to the highest level for decades, for no apparent good reason, while refusing to try to recover £billions fraudulently claimed during the height of the covid crisis and showing a worrying lack of commitment to the UK. We have an Attorney General, and Lord Chancellor (Justice) who are prepared to condone both the PM and the government breaking the law, a Culture Minister bent on destroying any culture which criticises the government.... I'd go on but finger is getting tired..

Backing all that ignorance, incompetence and indifference we have a tory majority comprising MPs who are coniving at the destruction of the constitution, the destruction of democracy, the growth of poverty, hardship and inequality and backing the most corrupt PM since the 18th C.

Then we have Brexit, destroying the economy, destroying 1,000s of small businesses, limiting people's choices and opportunities, still damaging people's lives and still divisive. And making the UK look really stupid, or ripe for plucking, in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Also all those tory stalwarts who are completely unable to tell right from wrong and who seem to comprise a frighteningly large proportion of the electorate..

I’ve been watching the Margaret Thatcher/ Ronald Reagan documentary when they were both in power in the 80’s.

Love her or hate her, I do wonder what she would be making of all this.

The war has come in very handy for Johnson hasn't it? He can boast about supporting the Ukrainians. Of all the PMs in all the countries in all the world he is leading the way, he and his acolytes tell us. The world beating hyperbole is getting on my nerves.

I'm not embarrassed to be English or ashamed of England. I do however think the PM is chaotic and does not have control of the ship.

What disgrace this man is. No morals whatsoever. He will definitely receive more penalty notices but I am amazed how the backbenchers appear to support him. I certainly wouldn’t even support my DDs if they told obvious lies and no way would they get my support if they did so more than once. Have the backbenchers any integrity? I watched the cabinet members who were there and at least some looked suitably uncomfortable. My goodness what an embarrassment this country is.

He is a disgrace as are the spineless backbenchers who support him. The quick change of focus to the dreadful suffering in Ukraine was appalling. He is a truly despicable man, using anything he can to save his sorry arse.
