On April 3rd, this photo appeared on the front pages of many Sunday newspapers. David Warburton, the Conservative MP for Somerton and Frome, looking spaced out beside what appear to be lines of cocaine. Texts from him had asked "does your dealer do Westminster Bridge?" and commented on the price of £160. He had also been accused of sexual harrassment by three different women. Lurid details were supplied. And he was found to have borrowed a large sum of money from a Russian businessman who had been banned from any kind of regulated financial activity.
His constituents expected him to resign and trigger a byelection. He has not done so. He was expelled from the Parliamentary Conservative Group - ie he had the whip withdrawn but is still apparently a member of the Conservative Party. He issued a statement saying he had been admitted to a psychiatric clinic suffering from "shock" (we can only assume he was shocked at being found out)
On 6th May he issued an update, assuring constituents that he was continuing to represent them as before and telling them " As it happens and since the stories appeared a month ago, I have still not been contacted by any authority and am currently unaware as to whether any investigation has, in fact, been established."

Are we to believe that neither the parliamentary authorities nor the police intend to question him? If so, what on earth does a Tory MP have to do to warrant investigation?
