Good for her if she is giving the proceeds of her cookery books to charity. They are on Amazon for about £11 a book which even I think is rather expensive, but if the money is going to charity OK I suppose.

Oh, please - get your facts right! For every cookbook she's sold, she's given away hundreds to food banks right across the country. Many of her recipes are available for free on her website. She's already taken issue with similar commenters on Twitter who've made unfounded claims about her supposed wealth, so I'd be very careful what you say. I've absolutely no idea why some people seem so determined to knock her, when at least she is putting her words into action and actually doing something to help those most vulnerable in our society.

I think Jack is a hero, a credit to her Family, Friends and Essex.

Your post is so full of errors I do not know where to begin.

Jack is not rich, the majority of her profits from books goes to charities along with 100% of profits from the tote bags.

She lives in rented accommodation, walks to her local supermarket and carries the shopping back.

She cooks and documents/costs every meal for all to see on her Twitter account.

Are you kidding me? So you think it's perfectly ok for someone like Hopkins to make totally untrue, libellous statements about someone and get away with it? Your comment infers that you don't really believe Jack Monroe is autistic and disabled, when it's very clear that she is both. She is not threatening Anderson - he has made statements about her which is untrue, so she's perfectly entitled to take action over that. She gave Hopkins ample opportunity to retract her libellous statements, but Hopkins chose to have her day in court instead. That's not being 'touchy' - her actions are perfectly reasonable, and backed by many of her followers.

I commend Monroe for her sterling work on the Vimes Boot Index.
