I caught the end of a news item on the Queen walking to her seat and they said that there was a small platforms lift (discreet) so that HM didn’t have to negotiated the steps.

Those drummers were fantastic, in fact unbelievable. The Queen obviously loved them as well.

I agree that it would be good to have some male Scottish dancers. All those muscular Legs! The Azerbaijan cavalry were brilliant as usual as were the ladies from Oman. And mustn't forget the Secret Drummers and the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery going at full tilt across the arena. Lovely to see the Queen chatting away about her own horses. I see Princess Anne's verdict was "Mama will love this"

The Irish and Scottish dancing was fab-u-lous. Wales had Katherine Jenkins, thank heavens there were no Morris dancers though!
The Queen looked to be very happy.

There is nothing that really represents England is there?

I actually thought it was a repeat blush and why does Tom Cruise now look like John Bishop?

I really enjoyed it too. I love watching horses, and there were plenty of them. I thought at first it was going to be awful, when all that seemed to be happening was some bad singing and Tom Cruise nattering.

It’s a shame that highland dancing has been taken over by girls, though. I’m all for equality, but it’s not equal. We hardly ever see the men dancing now.

The Queen looked quite bright and alert, which was good to see.

I think he redeemed himself with the Opening of Parliament joke. The Queen's response was priceless.

What did he say ?

He made a flippant remark, something along the lines of, "thanks for choosing to come to us above the state opening of Parliament."

Omid Djhlili was brilliant. I loved the drummers, I was mesmerized by them. Loved pretty much most of the show. I love horses too, probably why. Gentleman Jack was on the other side….. It’s a favorite that had to be recorded.

Mollygo Sun 15-May-22 23:36:12

I thought the drummers were spectacular. We saw enough of HM enjoying the show without it being too intrusive. And yes, Pittycity I agree.?

Yes merlot, I told him off about that too.

I watched on TV, really enjoyed it, heart warming to see Her Majesty, The Queen, looking well & happy.
Touching moment to see Lady Louise driving the carriage she inherited from her grandfather, Prince Philip.

Serendipity22 Sun 15-May-22 22:50:34

Absolutely FABULOUS
Just watched it....
smile

Norah Sun 15-May-22 22:48:57

I wonder the price of the display?

LauraNorderr Sun 15-May-22 22:48:29

Her Majesty looked lovely. She has a beautiful smile, her eyes light up. A remarkable woman.

merlotgran Sun 15-May-22 22:40:59

Would somebody please tell Omid Djalili that the Queen is Her Majesty and not a Royal Highness!

merlotgran Sun 15-May-22 22:33:01

Very touching seeing Lady Louise driving Prince Philip’s carriage.

BigBertha1 Sun 15-May-22 22:16:21

I love the Azerbaijan ladies in horseback especially the one with the big drums.

The Queen looks as though she’s really enjoying herself although a stern word might be aimed at the Household Cavalry who put on a very lack lustre performance.

I would agree with you about the Household Cavalry, Merlotgran the Azerbaijan horseman were more enlivening.

Polly73 Sun 15-May-22 22:00:34

And they called her shawl / poncho a cardigan. I expect it’s finest cashmere.

ixion Sun 15-May-22 21:53:14

I'd hardly call her patent court shoes loafers 'tho!

Lark123 Sun 15-May-22 21:50:58

What a fine collection of photos of the Queen!
Not a 'bad' one amongst them; the best I've ever seen.
HM looks really good, so lovely, happy, and relaxed; thank you for posting the article lemsip.

Kim19 Sun 15-May-22 21:47:28

Yes, she does look as though she is thoroughly enjoying the show. Wonderful.
