Herr is a fact for those of you who do not reside in the US and, to be honest, do know know a whit about what happens after a tragedy in the US. Which, trust me, seems to be a fair number of you.

Couple of other things from this thread that need addressing, in my opinion:

Harry would want security for himself and his family at the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral as unlike other members of the Family he fought in Afghanistan, two tours of duty (or one and a half as the Press found out and one tour had to be cut short). That makes him/his family far more of a target for terrorists than, say Prince Andrew's daughters.

Thomas Markle has tried (my opinion) to manipulate his daughter on numerous occasions in the past, and I think his other daughter has a hand in that - is anyone in any doubt that if a meeting between Meghan and her father were arranged the Press would be the second people to know and be in wait, and every detail shared - for a price. The photographer, Jeff Rayner, had coffee with Mr Markle back in 2018 prior to The Wedding and then took pics of Mr Markle inside a shop looking for suits for The Wedding. Some might call MM selfish and self centred, uncaring, I see her as being savvy to being used, protecting the children from being used. If she was that close to her father in the past I'd go with her knowledge of the man in her avoidance of him, rather than people here who have possibly been brought up in different circumstances and their indignation of Thomas Markle being shunned.

Why should she go see someone she obviously does not get along with?

How exactly is having that stress going to help TM other than to rehab her image? Wait, it wont, people will just say she went to rehab her image.

Don’t know either of them personally so have no view on their behaviour but he has other children who will no doubt run to his side and make a lot of money from the press from selling the story and running down Meghan. This is evident from the pattern they have set already in the press, Famous only for being related to someone famous.

Such a shame when this sort of split happens in families....Nobody but the people in the Markle family know what went on....

Who knows how that woman’s mind works, but failing to visit him will just confirm the opinion that a lot of us have of her.

I don’t take much interest in the shenanigans of the Sussexes, I must admit. Unfortunately I am assailed by media headlines all too often. No idea about the truth of the story, it’s their business. However, due to the oversharing of personal information by her sidekick, Harry, about his family and the blatant ingratitude towards a father who has made mistakes but who has tried to put things right, I am very sceptical about much of the Meghan saga. It jars rather nastily with their much vaunted and overstated ethos of humanitarianism and compassion. Personally, I was taught that kindness begins at home! I also am amused by their projected appearance at the thanksgiving for the Queen’s Jubilee when, presumably, they will pay lip service only to the Christian concept of forgiveness, something that neither have demonstrated whatsoever.

Is this going to be her excuse for not coming over here next week?

To be honest, and yes I know it sounds harsh but it couldn’t care less whether she visits or not. Obviously I hope he recovers but I’m sick and tired of hearing how “poor Meghan” has suffered so badly, has been hounded by the press, had such a miserable childhood, blah blah blah. They moved to “Canada” to get away from the evil British media (and to be fair, I could understand that) but then it suddenly changed to buying a house in the middle of Paparazzi central and signing up to any bit of attention they could possibly get. So since that, I have no sympathy or time for either of them. Rant over. Hope you all have a lovely day.

I always thought it very discourteous of Harry that he never bothered to make the effort to meet her father prior to the marriage. If her father had been a Duke would he not have made at least one visit, however far away he lived?
