Pro Queen / anti M&H

While I was washing up (contemplative state) I hit upon a conundrum.

I know many GN members are ardent royalists and very loyal to QE. Most of these members however are very anti M&H.

Yet QE has made it abundantly clear she wants M&H as a close part of her family.

So the conundrum is why, if these are the wishes of the Queen, steadfastly followed and supported by many, are her wishes for M&H to remain close and involved, not supported by her supporters on GN? Surely this casts doubt upon the leader royalists revere?

Ladyleftfieldlover I still believe if Meghan had been a rosy cheeked blonde from an aristocratic background, she would have been fine.
That is total nonsense. The public welcomed her for the wedding and would have accepted her just fine. It was her attitude and behaviour that soured the relationship we have with her. If Harry had married Chelsey Davey or Cressida Bonas and either had behaved like Meghan the outcome would have been exactly the same.

Well it would have been if they happened to be women who thought for themselves and didn't meekly accept being told what to do and how to behave. The problem seems to be that M was not going to be the subservient, conformist wife and tried to do things her own way and the RF doesn't want that in a wife.

Er….just a point. We don’t actually know what, if anything, Andrew has done, do we?

What about ‘innocent until found guilty’?

? ?
Oh the grand old Duke of York,
he had ten million quid.
He paid it to someone he never knew
for something he never did.

Says it all really. ??

I didn't watch the interview but recently read transcripts when people were arguing on GN as to what was said and not said, (admittedly online, taken from the Guardian and American Cosmopolitan so I can't vouch for their accuracy.) If half of what was reported was accurate, it was appalling.

I don't think MM intended to change the royal family. I believe she saw it as a platform for self-promotion, and had no understanding of the restrictions and conventions which apply to its members. She saw it as gagging, so used her royal connection to promote herself in America, whilst playing the victim.

I wonder how many of the RF they are actually going to meet. I would imagine that their reception is going to be rather frosty and their behaviour/interactions will be the focus of most of the reporting over the next few days.

I've no idea what he did.

I wonder what the £12million pay off was for? I wonder what the AoC thinks we have to forgive him for?

I agree Sparklefizz. She was determined to change the RF and found she couldn’t. I too watched the interview and heard exactly what was said.

No, Lady - Diana was exactly that.

No I didn’t, but I read various reports. It seems to me that a lot they said was taken out of context leading to lopsided stories appearing in the press.

It wasn't taken out of context - I watched the interview - it was straight from the horse's mouth.

^What belittling and accusations?^

Didn't you watch the Oprah interview Lady?

No I didn’t, but I read various reports. It seems to me that a lot they said was taken out of context leading to lopsided stories appearing in the press. The tabloids decided to despise them. I still believe if Meghan had been a rosy cheeked blonde from an aristocratic background, she would have been fine. Kate had ten years of bad press before the tabloids ‘accepted’ her. Remember the Waity Katy rubbish and the opprobrium she received for having difficult pregnancies?

For those members of the public who dislike what H&M have done and said it must be galling to see them being lauded in this way.

Who's lauding them? Where?

It is the “cat that got the cream “ expressions and the attendant camera crews

And if they looked glum? Would that be something else to complain about? Where are the camera crews, have you seen them?

They will make big bucks from Netflix with this - is it the only reason they’re coming

Doubt it.

This is all just conjecture.

Anniebach Wed 01-Jun-22 11:15:31

Are we paying for their security, he wouldn’t come to the memorial service because his private security team were not allowed to be armed or work with MI5 ,

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 11:07:54

They will make big bucks from Netflix with this - is it the only reason they’re coming, given that Harry wouldn’t even come here for his grandfather’s memorial service?

Families eh! confused

Complicated, whether your royalty living st Buckingham Palace or Joe Bloggs at No2 Perseverance Street.... it all boils down to the same ......confused

Totally, Serendipity22. Thank goodness my family complications haven't been aired in public! It would be mortifying.

annsixty Wed 01-Jun-22 10:12:59

If the Queen was having a private celebration I the way that we all do with birthdays, anniversaries etc then of course she is entitled to invite whoever she wishes.
This however is a very public occasion with many events over the weekend.
For those members of the public who dislike what H&M have done and said it must be galling to see them being lauded in this way.
It is the “cat that got the cream “ expressions and the attendant camera crews they bring with them that rather spoils it all for me.

Agree with GSM, well said.

I don't often read posts on the 'estrangement' threads, but am so very grateful this hasn't happened in my family (yet, touch wood etc.).
I imagine the Queen will do all she can to avoid such heartbreak in her family too.

Chestnut Wed 01-Jun-22 10:07:35

But we know better than her what is good for her when it comes to family and we will protect her.
What a very strange way you have of twisting words! We do not have to feel the same way as the Queen about H&M because they are not our family. That's it.

Well, I can only speak personally, but I was a great fan of H&M until they blindsided the Queen on several occasions, criticised the UK in general, and showed themselves to be hypocrites in not practising what they preach.

Then I stopped liking them, and sympathised with the Queen, Charles, William and Kate whom they chose to accuse and belittle on global television. I don't find them likeable. Full stop.

What belittling and accusations?

I think to reach such a great age, and assuming you are still compos mentis, the desire to let a lot wash over you increases. What others deem as transgressions may pall into insignificance, all part of the passage of time. I imagine she wants to see the great grandchildren, one who she has had a brief time with and the other she hasn't met, maybe not too many more opportunities for that. I think from what we know of her, the character of the Queen is unsullied by harbouring ill or malevolence.
