If Johnson had any backbone and morality he's step down now.
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
Support and friendship for those whose lives have been affected by estrangement.
How did you vote and why today
Boris Johnson wins confidence vote by 211 votes to 148
Sir Graham Brady, chair of the Conservative 1922 Committee, says 359 votes were cast. There were no spoilt ballots.
Confidence in Boris Johnson: 211
No confidence in Johnson: 148
That means more than 40% of Tory MPs voted against Johnson.
If Johnson had any backbone and morality he's step down now.

Corbyn is not responsible for the mess our country is in. He is only responsible for many voters turning against the Labour Party. No idea why anybody even mentions him now - other than on here, as a distraction to the lying PM and Tory Government who are taking us to hell in a handcart.
"^Boris Johnson's spokesman says the Prime Minister will transform the NHS into "a blockbuster health care system in the age of Netflix.^"
Isnt Netflix losing subscribers?
Morally bankrupt leader supported by morally bankrupt Tory MP's. They have really told the country that is OK to break the law and lie to Parliament. Hope they never suggest they are the party of Law and Order.
It means the Tory party will be finished at the next but it is a worry over how much damage they will do in the the next two years.

My concern is if he goes who becomes prime minister ? I can’t see anyone that is any better and that is sad. Sadly I can’t vote Labour whilst Angela Rayner and Emily Thornbury are still in the shadow cabinet , they are just waiting to bring Corbin back
Seriously? There is nobody in the whole House of Commons who would be better than Johnson? Why do you believe that? He's a lying charlatan who is not fit for office.
Corbyn's not coming back.

Remove the “payroll” vote - and look at the free vote from backbenchers. Almost 75% of all Tory MPs not dependent on his patronage voted against him. This is the end for Boris Johnson. The only question is how long the agony is prolonged.
The payroll voters number 95 I believe. This system needs to be changed.
The NHS is a pantechnicon. There is a finite number of staff, the more expert and qualified take many years to train and are in very short supply. Nursing is in crisis, with over 10% vacancy factor. It is massively under-resourced. There can be no magic wand, I’m amazed if any of the electorate is dumb enough to think there possibly could be.

Boris may be self interested but surely the 148 are selfless as they are almost certainly about to be voted out of very lucrative jobs if they carry on. The interviews with the general public are interesting as many of them are saying Boris has made some mistakes but we are all human and make mistakes. They also couldn't think of anyone else they wanted to take over from him. He seems to be seen as a damaged but relatable human being!. Certainly no great call for Labour to take over.
People who say that kind of thing must have very low moral standards.

Not having the strength to read all posts, i think they did not get rid of BJ because there is nobody who supports Brexit that stands out. I wish B would stop listening to his wife who is not elected. If he was sensible he would have stayed with Marina. I note that the entire media is after his scalp with Beff Rigby leading. I am waiting for the Durham police to tell us Sir Keir holding up his beer and some who were there saying they had their curry snd beers after work finished will still result in Sir K being innocent because the Crime Commissioner for the area was present. I wonder what the UK electorate will think of that?
I wish we did have someone to replace Boris. Penny Mordaunt might be OK. Rishi is too rich,Liz Truss is not that popular. My son favours Ben Wallace but i am not sure which one is best. Looking at both sides of the house i dont see any outstanding members who would be great leaders.
But Johnson isn't an outstanding member or a great leader. If he were one of the chasing pack, would you choose him, knowing what you do about him?

It isn’t getting any better is it?
“Boris Johnson's spokesman says the Prime Minister will transform the NHS into "a blockbuster health care system in the age of Netflix."
Asked repeatedly to explain what this means, Johnson's spokesman is unable to say which features of Netflix he believes the NHS should imitate.”
Nothing more than a hyperbolic soundbite!
Maybe a Pay as you Go service or a subscription?

Michael Gove is currently trying to reverse the rule that 25% of new build housing is given over to social housing so that no one on low incomes or benefits gets a chance to get a decent new house! (Only the rich can get 'dibs' who can afford to buy one) I read that the other week- no wonder he is keeping a low profile!
It never was social housing - it was affordable housing. You should look at the criteria for "affordable". People on anything other than relatively high incomes couldn't afford them. That's why the Right to Buy bribe could be popular.

Growstuff asked PS. Has anybody seen any building work on any of those 40 hospitals?
Well yes - today I saw in the local paper that the foundation stone was laid for a whole new wing on our regional hospital. It has been prioritised/fast tracked to deal with the backlog of surgical operations (mostly knee and hip replacements) which has arisen because of the pandemic. It will contain two wards, rehab facilities and two theaters.
OOps sorry, this is in Scotland under an SNP/Green Government and has nothing to do with Boris's promised 40 new hospitals.
Great! PAH in Harlow is one of the six hospitals which has been earmarked for a rebuild. The finance and detailed plans were already in place, even though it was included in the 40 new hospitals. Hopefully, work will start before it falls down.

Why is that cabinet meeting being televised over and over again. It’s like a party political broadcast.
Just offering more apologies is not good enough though is it? And there's many more were very angry about his parties- not just meekly said we all make mistakes- people who have standards- and people who had relatives die alone while the pm & his pals partied! And even again when Prince Phillip passed away! Oh, & if he 'couldn't remember' doing any of that was that because he was so drunk then maybe???
Chinesecrested
I'm surprised he doesn't just go. He could get a much better paid job in industry, maybe do some after dinner speaking and make a fortune! And with less stress, more respect, and he'd enjoy himself more.
Respect?

So there's only 3 mp's interested in how they should behave (better) in public then? The rest dont care??
Lets face it- BJ does not behave correctly in public or out- remember how they heaved up the price of 'anything' that might make Brits fat to deter us- fizzy drinks, takaways- oh and who could forget the laughable 'pasty tax'? And then came the pics of BJ hurrying home with a takeaway bag in his hand-let alone how he looks like he's ballooning in weight by the week- so yes its always been 'one rule for us and a different one for them' so we should not have been surprised to find out about the parties really! ??
Nannan2 - it's the latter.
He still has the misleading Parliament saga to endure though not hopeful he will acknowledge any negative outcome from that, just offer another apology.
