Boris Johnson wins confidence vote by 211 votes to 148
Sir Graham Brady, chair of the Conservative 1922 Committee, says 359 votes were cast. There were no spoilt ballots.

Confidence in Boris Johnson: 211

No confidence in Johnson: 148

That means more than 40% of Tory MPs voted against Johnson.

Wonder what Smogg will say????

He said

"“This is a very bad result for the prime minister, 117 votes against her… much worse than she thought …. an overwhelming majority of backbenchers have voted against her”

Oh wait...

Larry the Cat.

I've said this before but it becomes more attractive as time goes on.

Do you know who runs Larry’s account?

They definitely have a sense of humour.

Who will replace Boris if he goes? Can't think of anyone myself. Any ideas?

Ben Wallace topped a poll last week.

I hope it isn’t Jeremy Hunt or Michael Gove, Mr Gove has been keeping a low profile recently which is certainly cause for concern.

Dillonsgranma Tue 07-Jun-22 13:02:24

Well he doesn’t win my confidence vote. Bumbling idiot comes to mind

V. worrying: this power-crazed man will never resign, but being short in the integrity department, could act rashly and dangerously before he is finally ousted.

Johnson is shameless and a lot of Tory MPs lack backbone and bottom. The 148 should all send in fresh no confidence letters to Sir Graham Brady and demand a rule change. And if any of them are threatened with having the Tory Whip removed they should collectively prevent his legislation in the Commons. He must go.

If they want to commit political suicide it only takes 40 or so to vote legislation down, my guess is that very few are prepared to do that.

148 could though, not just 40. There’s strength in numbers.

60% voted ‘confidence’ which is a sure sign that the PM is doing the right thing. The 40% against are in great danger of losing their very highly paid jobs - and I hope they do. So disloyal.

He's wanted that job since he was a nipper and he'll be carried out kicking and screaming!

volver Tue 07-Jun-22 12:50:01

Too many "Rights". Just like the Tories. ?

volver Tue 07-Jun-22 12:49:12

Right. You know that most of the 60% are the ones in the high paid jobs, right? And that some of them resigned to vote against Johnson because they thought that was the right thing to do?

All the discord and fractious Party politics are leading to a country groaning under their weight! Quite apart from the cost of living crisis! I would think Mr. Putin is rubbing his hands with glee, following on from the fiasco that is the current state of affairs in the EU (thanks, France, Germany, Hungary, Turkey! ) and the ongoing Democrat vs Republican debacle in the USA.

Slander in my opinion ?Gransnetter taken to court what a headline that would make in MSM.

Then the whole of twitter will also have to be challenged, including a lot of famous names.

Gove has never challenged anyone has he?

Alistair Campbell, who was tweeting this furiously yesterday, calling for drug tests, needs to be very careful. Opening of today's cabinet meeting, Johnson looked and sounded to me as though he has a cold or hay fever. This kind of allegation added to Lib Dems announcing this morning that they intend tabling a motion of no confidence in Johnson is ill-timed (imo) and is playing straight into Tory hands. Let them implode all on their own.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 07-Jun-22 11:32:17

Parody Boris

“I would like to apologise for my strange demeanor and the constant sniffing in my interview last night. I can assure you that it was just a touch of hay fever, which I seem to be prone to whenever I snort coke.”

More potential law breaking
