Every thing in the North East is the Great North in Cumbria it is all the B's burglary, assault and battery and others that polite grans should not mention.

But I did delight in Huw Edward's enjoyment in showing off his new toys on the One Show the other day.

I was put off what Sophie Rayworth was saying as she was concentrating on walking up and down several catwalks and was looking at her feet.

My exact thoughts Tanith I said so to DH last night.
Victoria Derbyshire with her skirt over her head flashing her pants would make my day,I can not stand her bullying interviews or aggressive presentations.
Bring back the old desk and chairs.

Modern does not always trump traditional.

A desk and chair is much more professional.

I think it is to distract from the direness of the news. Also, not seen as very modern to sit behind a desk these days. Sky news have had this formula for some time and Kay Burley has even donned her trainers to nip about. Prefer it to the cosy sofa set-up any day.

I hate it when they are standing up - especially the women as they are always in those ridiculously high heels that make them bend forward - crazy!

Nothing can make the news more enjoyable - it is unbearable to listen to.

Also .... grumble grumble ... why do they stand their reporters in cold windy places to try and convey the news whilst being battered and drowned? Crazy!

"Don't go to the coast - there are gale force winds and lashing rain" warns the newscaster as he or she nearly gets swept into the sea.

If they start wandering around I find it distracting.

Huw Edwards recently broadcast the whole of News at Ten from outside No 10, complete with protests and someone howling in the background.
Fair enough to send a reporter there to broadcast the relevant story but not all the main news.

Last night's BBC News was dire. Sophie Rayworth kept standing up, sitting down, standing up, sitting down. What the hell is going on? Then she had to speak to someone right across the studio, standing in front of a massive screen which distracts from what they are saying. It's all so ridiculous.

The other distraction is that people tend to examine women's clothes and figures when they stand in the middle of a catwalk. Not so much men who are always in the same suit and trousers. That is not fair. I notice Ms Rayworth wore very straight leg black trousers last night to make a point I think. Good for her.

I think we should all write to the BBC to complain that we want the newsreaders back behind their desks.

Some aspects of the news are covered by Panorama in depth and there are other documentaries that also cover newsworthy subjects comprehensively.

I agree walking around is unnecessary but they have been doing that for a while, haven't they? They start the BBC News standing awkwardly in front of a screen and then get seated for the rest of the news.

Couldn’t agree more. Pointless expense after the furore about the licence fee. Doesn’t make one jot of difference to the content of the news they report, which I would prefer them to do seated behind a desk.
