I am not a messy person but...
Happy Birthday - 100 years on Earth
Apparently his gender reassignment surgery (which WE paid for) has not lived up to expectations.
On Twitter the man said he had effectively been castrated by the surgery.
Now I thought that was what was wanted when having one’s bits removed to transition into being a woman.
Do you feel sorry for him?

That is very clearly a biased report though. I'll go back through my history later, and see if I can find the report I read last night.
Schools are still affiliated with SW, according to QueerAF:

Sorry - that should be 'That, (along with . . . .) is definitely true.
That along with councils and universities) have shelled out ££££ to Stonewall is definitely true, but I read that the government has insisted that schools pull out, and significantly this is not just because of the cost, but because of the issues around free speech.
I read it late last night, and am not very good with Twitter, so can't link up on here, though.
DD..."Anyway - I read that the government has pulled schools out of Stonewall because it represents poor value for money (£600,000 has been paid to Stonewall out of the budget that should be being used to educate the nation’s children!!) and because of concerns over free speech. Universities will be next, and not a moment too soon. "
It seems that some schools do belong to this Stonewall scheme.
"Embattled diversity charity Stonewall is making hundreds of thousands of pounds by enrolling schools on to a programme of transgender guidance that critics have branded ‘dangerous’.
The Mail on Sunday can reveal that hundreds of primaries, secondaries and colleges – both state and private – have paid up to £1,000 each to join the charity’s School & College Champion scheme.
As well as applying for awards to recognise their gay, lesbian and transgender ‘inclusion work’, schools can buy online training courses, further swelling the charity’s coffers. But opponents claim some of the material used is inaccurate and even unlawful.
The row comes as Stonewall faces an exodus from its controversial Diversity Champion scheme for employers amid claims it imposes trans ideology at the expense of free speech.
The charity says its programme of awards for schools helps ensure lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans students feel ‘valued, respected and represented’. One booklet advises teachers not to reveal a pupil’s ‘transgender identity’ to anyone outside the school – including their parents – unless the child gives permission. Another says: ‘Under the Equality Act, a trans child can use the toilets and changing rooms that match their gender’."

The "generation" accusation, that older people just don't support TW activities, because they are "dinosaurs", doesn't really stack up in reality.
A hike over to MumsNet, where, (I assume) the women are much younger, generally, than those on this site, shows that they are just as vocal about their rights, as biological women, being eroded.
The various Trans threads are full of anger about the subject.
Someone else on here claims to have done a Masters on the subject of trans issues, and that poster also shows a woeful ignorance of the facts. Strange, isn’t it?
I’ve said this before, but another ‘strange’ thing is that so many ‘allies’ use the same phrases and claims. It feels like they’ve all seen the same documentary or read the same article. ‘On the wrong side of history’ is one, and blatant ageism is another. Does ‘Stuck in the 70’s ring a bell?
Their inclusivity doesn’t stretch to ‘being kind’ to people from their own generation, or even a basic respect for the fact that others can have different opinions just because they think differently - it has to come down to age, even though that is such a bigoted way of thinking. Still, I suppose it fits with the stereotypes expected of the ’genders’.
If I didn’t know better I might think that their posts are from the same few people ?.
Anyway - I read that the government has pulled schools out of Stonewall because it represents poor value for money (£600,000 has been paid to Stonewall out of the budget that should be being used to educate the nation’s children!!) and because of concerns over free speech. Universities will be next, and not a moment too soon.
This was on Twitter- can anyone confirm or deny the veracity please?

^Has anyone realised that the so-called "epidemic" of trans and non-binary youth is because it is finally becoming less stigmatised to be the person who you really want to be?^
Being the person you really want to be shouldn't involve having dangerous surgery and/or taking hormone medication that will ruin your health.
Just so. Also
^Being the person who you really want to be^shouldn’t mean you cause damage to others who are being the person they have always been.
Outdated stereotypes were the main reason for some people to feel that they must be in the wrong body.
Yet, now, those same outdated stereotypes are being used as proof that a child or young person is 'trans'.
I'd be interested to see any such proof that is not based on stereotypes.
Thank you FN.
I suggest that trans people own their reality as trans, or gender-non-conforming, while not claiming to be the opposite sex from their real one.
It would at least make them look truthful. I wonder why they don’t.
Going back to LankyDollys post.
Does ‘biological sex have a myriad of variations’ LD?
Considering yours was a postgraduate Science degree, it must be correct?

Schools most definitely do not "promote" anything to do with sexuality or gender identity. Thatcher made any mention of such things illegal."
Intersex conditions have nothing to do with the current wave of people identifying as trans.
Small differences within the categories of female & male don't mean that someone should identify as the opposite sex.
It's astonishing to see someone make such a confident yet completely incorrect statement about the law and the situation in schools.
LD is clearly not as well informed as s/he would like to think.
An excellent post Lentilweaver.
As an aside, I once tried to make a necklace out of dried lentils - it didn't work, so I used sunflower seeds instead
.
All excellent points Lentilweaver
I know a couple teenage boys who are transitioning to; and you couldn’t meet lads from more damaged backgrounds; both full of neglect, poverty of every type and several types of abuse.
I was going to mention Section 28 myself, but the facts hardly seem to matter, do they
I've got a daughter and son, 18 months apart in age. As young children, they both played with all the toys in the house.
As they got older, they both went out on their bikes, went horse riding and did other sports.
I certainly didn't make them conform to any gender stereotypes. I didn't even think about it or make any sort of issue about it.
They were just children, enjoying life. ?
??? Lentil
Good post, Lentilweaver.
yes, I don't buy the idea that there were always lots of 'trans' people but that prejudice/lack of awareness whatever prevented them realising what they were themselves. If that were true we would see equal numbers of young girls and boys wanting to transition, and equal numbers of older men and women wanting to transition. But we don't.
The rejection of 'femininity' by teenage girls can be seen as a rational response to the expectations placed on young women and the awful epidemic of sexual violence and domestic abuse that women face. I won't speculate on why it's mostly middle aged men who want to 'transition' .
With regard to the young man wanting to sue the NHS, I do feel very sorry for him and coming from a homophobic family seems an obvious explanation and one that should have been explored by his doctors. What I hope is that the lawsuit alerts the NHS to the risks in blindly following the demands of transactivists. As many have said, there are long waiting lists for ALL treatments on the NHS. Adults are often declined surgery they would like to have.
As for JKR, my memory is that she said not that all women menstruate but that only women (and girls of course) menstruate. If you find that offensive you really need to thank god you have nothing more important to worry about.
And as for Thatcher, you will find that section 28 was repealed and had nothing to do with transgender anyway. Many of us who are defending women's and girls' rights were there on the streets protesting section 28.
Spotted on Mumsnet - a very good point:
"We have some quite well known middle aged professional white well off transwomen who will pop on here every so often, for example, to join in the call for puberty blockers for teenage girls with identity issues. I originally expected some of those activists to take a more moderate line, for example that young teenage girls who are attracted to gender ideology, and adult male to female transitioners, might not have the same needs or desires; and that it might be prudent and sensible to look at the groups rather separately when it comes to what is appropriate treatment, especially for minors.
But it seems that for the most part, the overwhelming desire to be validated by the idea of transness : gender identity more generally, and the idea of “trans children” in particular, is such a powerful one that adult activists cannot resist conflating kids’ and teenagers’ fashionable fads around gender with their own."
Oh Chewbacca, please don’t bring Real Life back after Doodle’s Bedtime Story

What's this all about then?
Ofsted Cites Lack Of Gender Identity Education In Primaries As A Factor In Inspection Reports
PUBLISHED: 5:21 a.m. EDT, June 19, 2022 | UPDATED: 5:22 a.m. EDT, June 19, 2022
A lack of teaching about ‘gender identity’ has been cited among the reasons for several primary schools’ low grades by Ofsted inspectors.
Pre-Covid inspections of two primary schools classified as ‘in need of improvement’ in 2019 and 2020 described how the schools had failed to teach pupils about ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender diversity’.
Inspectors deemed a third school ‘inadequate’ and said it failed to teach pupils about ‘gender reassignment’ among other criticisms, reports The Telegraph.
Teaching about gender identity in schools remains a divisive issue, with support from transgender support groups and opposition from gender-based rights activists.
Critics say the issue is inappropriate for children and risks pressuring young people to identify as transgender instead of gay and lesbian. Last year, the charity Stonewall – which promotes teaching methods around gender self-identification – raised concerns with Ofsted that inspectors were not talking about trans issues in class.
E^ducation Secretary Nadhim Zahawi announced new guidelines after receiving advice from the Equality and Human Rights Commission on how teachers should respond to students who want names, different genders and pronouns.^
A Bedtime Story
Once upon a time, in the 60s and before, women suffered because of gender expectations. They were not supposed to work outside of the home, could not get credit as men were assumed to be breadwinners, there were few childminders or nurseries, women had to be married to get contraception, they could not join pension schemes, were paid less than men and so on.
So they bravely fought against this, and gradually all of those things improved. Not only that, but girls tended to do better than boys in education, so on a more level playing field they did well in the workplace too, particularly in the professions, where educational attainment mattered. At other levels, men who grew up seeing their grandfathers and fathers as 'head of the household' who doled out housekeeping to their wives found themselves unemployed as the manufacturing base of the UK was decimated in the 80s. Some remained unemployed, and others had to take jobs on zero hours contracts or accept minimum wage when they used to earn a lot more. Their own wives may have done better at school than they did, and in any case women were better in jobs in the service sector, as they had 'female' skills such as communication and hospitality. This meant that the traditional family set up with man as breadwinner and woman as homemaker changed there, too.
Some men were delighted to see their wives become more independent, and encouraged their success. They also enjoyed being able to spend time being 'hands-on' fathers, and husbands who were friends with their wives rather than 'head of household'. Others, however, (and some women who were envious of what they saw their daughters or DILs achieve) objected, and pushed for the Old Order to return. In their view, women were supposed to be the ones who wanted to wear certain clothes and join clubs like the WI, and men who wanted to do so threatened the preferred order, so must be in the wrong body and 'become' women. Women who wanted to do 'manly' things and were good at them also threatened the Old Order, so they must also be in the wrong body and 'become' men. Some young people who were bewildered by the whole thing and didn't buy into either set of stereotypes declared themselves non-binary or gender-neutral, but disappointingly for them this didn't make any real statement, as so was pretty much everyone else.
An side-effect of this was that these new 'women' could make sure that the real ones had nowhere to call their own. No safe places where men could not go, and no female shortlists or positive discrimination - in fact it became impossible for the authorities to even know whether women were being discriminated against as they no longer existed as a sex class. In Sport, where strength often matters, women found it very difficult to win against men, and in areas such as Music, where men had dominated until there were women's award categories, they slipped further down the popularity lists. A Dark Gloom hung over the land.
Then along came some bolshy women who were fed up with all of this, and started to complain. They were called nasty names and threatened in their workplaces and online. The pretend women, the old-fashioned men and their female supporters joined together to stop the bolshy women from having meetings. They called themselves 'allies' and infiltrated workplaces, universities and schools and turned children against parents and colleagues against one another. They refused to allow free speech or any form of debate, and anyone who didn't go along with their rules was 'outed' and not allowed to speak about their views.
One day, however, the allies went too far, and the bolshy women realised that they had support from other people who hadn't realised just how bad things had been getting. Even the government and the Big Bad Leader began to realise that it was unfair. Increasingly, people began to shout that the Emperor had no clothes and they were believed. The worm began to turn, and the Dark Gloom brightened.
People went back to being happy in their own sex, and ignored a lot of gender expectations. Men and women were happy to get along with one another and everyone did the jobs they enjoyed and let others do the ones they didn't - nobody was called nasty names and free speech returned to the land. The bolshy women stopped being called nasty names and could get on with sorting out other inequalities, and they all lived happily ever after.
The End
I think some young people, who have had that kind of childhood, can find the stereotyped expectations in adulthood quite a shock - especially girls.
Instead of overhauling society to centre a massive pretence, we should be overhauling it to be accepting of differences in all ways that don't harm anyone.
Looking back, so did we Iam. We didn't restrict them to toys and activities we thought were for boys and neither did our friends with their sons and daughters.
The thing is, we didn't make a song and dance about it either because it was enough to give them a childhood in which they were free to be themselves, without having to be seen doing it.
