Speaking of hair Callistemon I think that Liz Truss has a lovely shade of hair, a sort of red blonde.
Hair apart, it is looking very much the case that she will win this contest.I shall be watching the debate the evening with interest.

So the Final 2 - Liz and Rishi
(668 Posts) Well am not surprised.. Are you? Feel dismayed by the Cons and the awful skullduggery that has gone on..need a glass or 2..
A word is used by a poster, another poster thinks the word is inappropriate, first poster justifies their use of word. Some agree, some disagree. It’s known as adult discussion. A Welsh speaker would read the word as meaning carrot and perhaps go on to discuss beetroot.

One must never question a PM candidate's ability to make sensible deductions or understand the intricacies of the tax system. One must especially never opine that her ability to find her way out of a room with one door in any way reflects on her intellectual capacity, by using a word which is in common use. That would be just unacceptable.
?Perhaps nitwit would be more acceptable and that’s from a normally Conservative voter If she is trying to emulate Thatcher then I suspect the Lady is turning in her grave.
Now, now rosie be careful with nitwit - I've just been checking in case it has naughty archaic usage and see that synonyms include clodpole, spoony and moon-calf
which sound well dodgy!
This is true Galaxy there are many words which may be shouted in the street or laughed about as insults, but forums should be and often are better than that.
I am glad that you are not bothered by the deletion Volver and accept it and realise now it should not be used as a form of insult.
Yes I am enjoying this site but the tech issues are becoming a nuisance for me, as so hard to post, and pages jump around.

Not sure about Johnson’s hair? It hasn’t always looked such a mess. I think it is some peculiar affectation.
I think this too, although he may have very flyaway hair which is hard to tame.I have seen a photo of him when he attended Eton School and he was a food looking boy with lovely hair, in a different style.
I have seen it reported that he deliberately tousles his hair before appearing on TV.
A friend of mine does this, but not deliberately, rather in a distracted fashion.
Anyway, it's irrelevant now, there are two candidates with lovely hair to choose from ............
Because the majority of Tory members voting are Older Men
which candidate is going to appeal to them.
For me Sunak has tunnel vision about the economy, his way or the highway.
Truss seems not entirely confident but could be more easily manipulated by the right wing ERG.
Cross post volver.

There are all sorts of words that are in common use that arent allowed on internet forums. There is a danger in putting the control of words into the hands of those who run sites but you really cant expect GN to be some sort of freedom fighter for free expression (they take quite a lot of risks in that capacity on MN).

Certainly not me Volver as I believe in posts staying in place so that everyone can see what is happening. However Gransnet probably have a list of words that are unacceptable, or at least make a judgement on them. It’s a nasty little word from the past, moreover quite ridiculous when speaking of a politician who attended Oxford University. So it did not even make sense. If you feel angry about this matter then speak to the moderators of the site.
I believe you are new-ish, isn't that correct Prentice? Then you maybe won't have seen the many times that people have pointed out that moderators only get involved when someone reports a post.
I never have any issue with things being deleted. Its their site, they can delete what they like.
Didn't Johnson go to Oxford? Not a shining example of intellectual magnificence, IMO. (Am I allowed to say that?)
Good looking not food looking, hehe.

So I go out for the morning and miss the excitement and naughty words. How fortunate to have escaped exposure to such depravity ?
Thank you so much GN moderators.

Ah, I see that Gransnet does not like that word either.
Posters may see this as heavyhanded, but certain words should not be used, are we not better than that nowadays?
How will we ever change if the insulting words of the past are encouraged or at least not challenged. So many other words to be used if you do not like a politician, or anyone else come to that.
Aye, somebody must have reported it....

"Callistemon21 - With tidy hair!!"
Yes, well maybe we are all looking for too much just yet taking into account where we have just come from. Maybe the issue should be settled for the time being on simply having someone who can manage to comb their own hair every day.I think Johnson does comb (or brush) his hair every day - it's just that his comb and his hair are at permanent loggerheads.
I'm inclined to believe that he showers, washes his hair at the at the same time and then uses a hair dryer... my partner does that and looks similar to Johnson as the day wears on... Johnson's not the picture of sartorial elegance, but he does look clean. Anyway, I don't care about his appearance, just his politics.
Dickens this is what I believe too.
You should see my hair at all times, even when just brushed!

The country and the Tories are well on the way to hell in a handcart. And Starmer needs to get a grip.
Perhaps he's just watching the disaster unfold
Aw, I missed the word what was it?
Conservative member and former candidate says the Conservative Party is now the English Nationalist Party

Callistemon21, my youngest DGD thinks that Boris has Harry Potter hair. ??
Harry's is quite tidy!
Oh, FGS, Gransnet. What's wrong with calling a spade a spade?
Perhaps you'd better give us a list of words that don't upset the pearl clutchers...
