Have been channel hopping loads..some of the newsreaders are irritating..my low mood I suspect..but others I can listen/view for few hours...I've taken to watching the Euro news and CNN to see how they are reporting on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the incoming King Ascension...which channels are you watching?

I thought the poor Queen Consort looked, this morning, as if she was about to burst into tears at any minute while the King was speaking. I felt rather sorry for her.

I read the eulogy at my mum's funeral. I didn't want anyone else to do it.
I agree Glorianny a bit of comedy would be welcome.

I am just so grateful for my Humax where I have so many recorded programmes to watch. Will definitely be using this most of the time over the next week. I do just tune in to Aljazeera a couple of times a day - just to be reassured that the rest of the world is still in existence!!!

Guessed Nick Abbott would not be permitted on LBC this weekend, nor next - all his hard work on new PM will be getting a bit dated!!!

It is really not at all funny. We know that the mental health in UK is extremely fragile and effecting so very many people, this sort of taking off usual soaps, and programmes, etc is going to have a further disastrous effect.

Are you really suggesting that taking off soaps and programmes is going to adversely affect the mental health of the nation?
We are obviously in a moribund state and without resources of any kind if such a triviality caused mental suffering.

Watched the BBC coverage this morning and really enjoyed it. Also last eve from 6pm for an hour before going out. Once it starts being repeated, I find another channel or a recording to watch.

Franbern, my humax box died! We linked up our satellite dish to the TV which has a satellite receiver built in. Now we don't have the capacity to record anything and I also lost my favourite films that I'd kept on the humax box.
I agree about the repetitiveness of the BBC coverage. I enjoyed watching the accession declaration this morning , my Mother would have loved it. We do pageantry really well.

It's really too much and many reporter's are obviously stuck for words and saying whatever comes into their heads. Must be hard for the reporters when there is nothing new to say. I would watch things if there were specific programmes but not sit glued to the TV coverage. The producers haven't paid attention to the criticism regarding the coverage of Prince Philip's death and funeral.

It is repetitive I agree. I've been dipping in and out and reading in between. I was out this morning so missed the Accession programme, hopefully it will be repeated later. I do love the pageantry and ceremony which we do so well.

I am another who finds it overkill, today we put BBC sounds on and had some cheerful music while we painted the bedroom. In the evening we are watching Iplayer or Netflix and I just want to hear some news other than the Queen.

dragonfly46 Sat 10-Sept-22 13:33:54

I thought Penny Mordant did a good job. Liz Truss looks like she has just swallowed a lemon!

Esspee Sat 10-Sept-22 13:29:44

We have the TV off. It only goes on in the evening to watch I player, Netflix or similar.

My preferred channel is GB News. Extremely informative with Alistair Stewart, David Starkey and others, who really do know what they're talking about. Having said that, the rolling news is beginning to have a negative effect for sure.

BBC... Wondering how Charles had the wherewithin to be able to deliver a speech yesterday...Day after I lost my mother so quickly I couldn't speak to anyone..Suppose he has to be strong as our future king.

I thought the same. I went to the registry office when my mum died. I’d been coping very well on automatic pilot but when I tried to say I’d come to register my mothers death I just broke down. I was rather expecting Charles to stumble over his words but he didn’t. It showed in his eyes, though.

My sister and I read the eulogy at our Mums funeral, it was flipping hard but we got through, without tears, with smiles and each other.

He has probably been rehearsing it for the last 10 or 20 years.

Fanny
Those 2 and Fergi ?
The actress who plays Beatrice has got her funny voice inflection off to a tee. Brilliant.

I've been channel hopping between the bbc itv and sky news. I like the royal correspondent on itv called Chris. So much better than Nicholas W droning on and on.

Clive Myrie just looks really warm and sweaty in his black jacket so yuk.

The speech Charles gave yesterday was excellent. I'm beginning to quite like him!

I am watching the history in the making. David Olusoga explained this morning's proceedings so well and I love the fact that we still continue with centuries old traditions of informing the whole country by local proclamation. It reaches here at 2pm tomorrow and I shall go out to listen.

I switch off once they just start repeating what has already happened.

I too would like to hear or read some of the other news, surely there are other things happening!

I watched it with fascination too, because I love ceremonial anything. I also love the fact that we have had an Earl Marshall of England since around the time of Henry I, and that we still have a Garter King of Arms and Heralds Persuivant. Archaic? Yes, but it roots you in the past in the same way as the monarch does. I shall now don my flak jacket and retreat behind the sofa!

Well,I agree with you.

Apparently my grandchildren, aged 13 and 10, are fascinated, too.

Nooshboosh Sat 10-Sept-22 12:22:54

BBC is on in the back ground while I do the cleaning today. It's getting ridiculous though.

FannyCornforth Sat 10-Sept-22 12:21:24

Meryl oh, I do love The Windsors!
I think my favourites are Beatrice and Eugenie ?
I bet Camilla loves her depiction by Haydn Gwynn

MerylStreep Sat 10-Sept-22 12:15:23

Glorianny

Not watching any of it except occasional news updates. I tried watching The Capture on i-player but it's totally confusing. My DS says they are not showing any comedy programmes because the country is in mourning. Personally I think a couple of funny episodes of something would be quite nice.

That’s me off to the Tower, then. Binged out on the Windsor’s yesterday.

Bea65 Sat 10-Sept-22 12:14:47

Greyduster don’t forget the tin hat? we do do pageantry so well and the ink pots for the signing of Proclamations were a gift from William and Harry to Charles.. love these family titbits

essjay Sat 10-Sept-22 12:12:59

none, for the simple reason i cancelled my tv license, but have been reading online news
