Have been channel hopping loads..some of the newsreaders are irritating..my low mood I suspect..but others I can listen/view for few hours...I've taken to watching the Euro news and CNN to see how they are reporting on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the incoming King Ascension...which channels are you watching?

Penny Mordaunt also very good, clear speaker.

Lots of lengthy words to get her tongue round.

Boris Johnson and Gordon Brown look to be having a jolly chat together.

Nice to see.

Interesting watching the body language!. Tony Blair and Gordon Brown with their backs firmly to each other!

Sorry old woman 70 don't know what happened ,first half of my post was a quote from your post we have been saying the same thing.

hulahoop Sat 10-Sept-22 10:20:06

was thinking I was the only one! TV has constant coverage and even local radio are desperately trying to find someone with even the remotest connection to the Queen to interview. I have the greatest respect for her but, as she herself proved on occasions, life must go on.

Is there no other news? Has Putin withdrawn from Ukraine, is China no longer threatening Taiwan, has the cost of living crisis been resolved, have energy prices fallen.
We are watching recordings even our local news is off ,they always go overboard ,we don't want to listen to all and sundry who met her ,I feel for people who have lost someone or the ones living with only the 4 channels .

Sky News - I love the pomp and ceremony attached to these events and will watch every detail ??

I think that's what happens when no one has worked out what the public mood would be. Obviously a difficult task.

MawtheMerrier Sat 10-Sept-22 10:00:36

Glad to see that after 36 hours of emotion, affection for the late Queen, sympathy etc, normal grumpy service has been resumed as soon as possible grin

nadateturbe Sat 10-Sept-22 09:54:01

None. Glad to see I'm not alone.

We aren’t watching the wall to wall coverage. Lucky to have many other channels instead. I listen to talk radio on my travels so get the news from there. I enjoyed the Kings address last night. I read the news online.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 10-Sept-22 09:42:34

Fanny was harking back to the divine right of kings. It’s the name ‘Charles’ wot did it.

I too am totally fed up with it. I would like to get a half hour update once a day just so I know what's going on but all this drivel from reporters repeating themselves is too much so I turn off.
It's not like there is anything new to say about their lives it has all been said over and over in documentaries for years.

Calendargirl Sat 10-Sept-22 09:40:39

I am watching on BBC.

I have watched the main bits, and am keen to see the Declaration, first time we are allowed to see it.

It’s a historic day. But I enjoy many Royal documentaries, I find the monarchy very interesting.

I only have the free view channels, but I read a book if I am fed up with what’s on.

As an aside, my DD lives in Australia. She, too, is keen on the monarchy, and I think it is great that she, on the other side of the world, is watching these events same time as me, (time differences allowing of course).

It brings us close together, a shared interest, and I love that.

MawtheMerrier Sat 10-Sept-22 09:30:19

I can’t understand those who say “I can’t stand all this TV!”(But it is so compelling!) However I have been using the OFF button too.
I know the papers are full of every possible aspect of the Queens life and this is surely at it should be after the passing of such a pivotal figure in all our lives. Those who have had enough, I suggest might enjoy a good book or DVD ( personally I’m thinking of watching The Crown!)
I was hugely impressed by the King’s address to the nation yesterday, glad I didn’t miss that, and will watch the Proclamation this morning .

(PS Fanny - had to chuckle at your predictive text ‘s Ascension gringrin )

Yammy Sat 10-Sept-22 09:24:28

None. I'll admit it was fun to watch Bob Mortimer last night. This wall to wall coverage by lots of channels is too much, by the end of the mourning period how many will still be interested? I think the main events a little about her life and that is enough.
I for one would like to know what is happening in Ukraine.

BlueBelle Sat 10-Sept-22 09:22:18

No Fanny at least he brightens my weekend nights and brings a smile to my face…l love Nick Abbott

No Redhead that’s a total exaggeration we had a lot of overkill with the pandemic but they didn’t take over every entire stations for two years you’re also wrong saying we have choice we don’t have much choice as it’s on 24/7 on almost all mainstream channels and every radio station I ve tried.
Perhaps you have busy evenings/night I don’t I live alone and am quite tired by evening and want to relax with something light Devote one or even two channels to it then you can watch avidly and we can all get on with something else
I m as interested as the next person but I ve heard it all twenty times over

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 10-Sept-22 09:21:44

Yes, I was watching on Thursday afternoon too, waiting for news, and I watched Charles’s speech and enjoyed the service. And the accession council will be interesting. But the rest has just been total overkill.

eazybee Sat 10-Sept-22 09:21:16

BBC, but Alastair Bruce on Sky news is extremely informative.
I watch as much as I need, and then switch the television off.

I confess I was almost glued to the TV on Thursday afternoon waiting for news and yesterday evening I watched the King’s address and the service from St Paul’s.

I agree with everyone. It's just too much. Thursday afternoon was awful. Huw Edwards and Nicholas Wichell scraping the barrel for what to say over and over. I'd heard from media sources that she had already died but somehow wanted to be sure.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 10-Sept-22 08:57:49

I agree vegansrock. It’s all so repetitive. I know it’s a momentous event but I’ve had enough of the wall to wall coverage.

FannyCornforth Sat 10-Sept-22 08:57:16

BlueBelle and no Nick Abbot this weekend! ?

Redhead56 Sat 10-Sept-22 08:53:44

The BBC and CNN for comparison we had coverage of pandemic for nearly two years we had to live with that.
This was inevitable but sudden so it’s bound to be on 24/7 its obvious because of the subject matter. I personally have watched it with interest we have the choice to watch or not.

karmalady Sat 10-Sept-22 08:51:13

TV is awful, I cannot watch this constant coverage. I joined the library last week and have just downloaded a audiobook. Keeping myself busy is key for me, until we get to a new normal. I even worked in the soil, in the rain yesterday. Got soaked and muddy but it was nice being outdoors in peave and quiet, with a fulfilling job to do
