I thought we might like to record and share some of the images and thoughts that have a special meaning to us.

I’ll start with this. My most favourite place in the U.K., my home county.

On an old steam strain the other day this picture was opposite me very poignant.

The silence
And the faces of those young men in the bearer party.

There is a robin hopping outside the window as Rosie and I snuggle down on the sofa to watch today’s pageantry and to remember our Queen.
Loved ones are said to be near when robins appear - Paw is never far from my thoughts so perhaps that robin’s role is to reassure me he is indeed with me.

Yes. I’m curled up with Winnie whippet. I had to chuckle when I noticed that Charles wasn’t singing and then I realised that he doesn’t have to sing along to God Save the King! I have to look away whenever the coffin gets moved in case anything goes wrong!

Can you think of anyone who would get such a heartfelt response from so many. It’s a first and possibly last time this will happen.

Here is a picture now

The wreath on the Queen's coffin.

The flowers look as if they have been picked from the Queen's garden and include rosemary for remembrance and myrtle which was in her wedding bouquet.

I'm sorry, I can't post a picture

Very quiet here today, like lockdown all over again but people are choosing to stay home now.

Incredibly poignant cartoon by ⁦@mortenmorland⁩ in today’s Times.

If you know someone who lives alone, perhaps bereaved, for whom today may hit especially hard, perhaps give them a ring later on

I took the dog a walk along Belfast Lough this morning and left a posy of sweet peas with the other floral tributes for the Queen. It was so peaceful and quiet.

Beautiful morning here in Northumberland. I got up at 6 which is unheard of for me. The weather has been very kind. We went to a village show two weeks ago and were greeted by the bagpipes being played and throughout the past 12 or so days every time I hear the bagpipes ( which is quite often ) I well up.

FannyC I'm stupid too. I was puzzled.
Who is with Bruce Springsteen?

I’ve asked for my stupid posts to be removed - I’m not sure if they will be due to HQ not working today.
(It’s Bruce Springsteen btw, looking exactly like Woody Allen)

I was about to say Woody Allen!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-Sept-22 10:26:57

Yes our road is totally quiet.

I took the dog out this morning at 7am and a respectable looking gentleman was sat on a park bench. I greeted him asking him if he was enjoying the peace, and he responded by saying “I’m having a contemplative drink to Her Majesty” and raised a bottle of beer??

Also puzzled. Is it connected with the Queen or not ?

You need to click on WWs photo

timetogo2016 Mon 19-Sept-22 10:22:19

My thoughts of today is with the Royal Family.
And the loss of our Queen.

Did you look at the picture ?
I think it explains

I admit that I didn’t.
Sorry thanks
Please ignore or forgive my stupidity ?‍♀️

nanna8 Mon 19-Sept-22 10:19:44

No idea.

Riverwalk Mon 19-Sept-22 10:19:41

Deserted outside, if it wasn't for the helicopters it would be silent! The bridges are closed - there seems to be a very wide exclusion zone.

Even the Thames is deserted - for security reasons no doubt.
