These people are all anti-growth, according to Ms Truss. It's a standard extremist cry of "everyone's out of step but me."

So, no, Liz Truss. I am pro-growth, but not your sort of growth. Not growth for the very rich and your pals in the city while the poorest struggle to get by. I think there will be others who feel they see "growth" differently to that of a PM with no mandate to put hers through, too.

^The current PM……….could be far more dangerous than her predecessor.^

Oh yes indeed. Be careful what you wish for.

I don’t think many people wished for her at all to be fair maddyone.

Does she realise she herself is on Twitter. Mind I suspect many many Tories are beginning to think she is an enemy of the state.

There's even a T-Shirt for us. Someone saw a fine opportunity to grow their business?

Sizes appear to go up to 44/48".
I don't have any connection with them, honest ?

I do admire the way businesses seize an opportunity. I hope that Truss admires this one ??

maddyone Thu 06-Oct-22 09:18:25

Casdon you’re right. I certainly didn’t want her and want her even less now she’s shown her colours.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 06-Oct-22 09:31:10

Andrew Marr has been speaking to various Tories, who are beginning to wonder if they could get away with kicking out Truss and Kwarteng replace them with Sunak and Mordaunt.

Why break the pattern now developing and saddle us with another lot of unelected, who ditch the manifesto and foist what they like on the hapless population?

DaisyAnne Thu 06-Oct-22 09:52:11

Love the T-shirt Maizie.

The problem is the stupidity of the current incumbents. How could we guarantee that the next lot would be any less stupid?

You cannot have a slogan that says, "we want growth" and then assume you can get away with saying "the other lot don't".

Why do they want growth. What sort of growth do they want (growing the service industry is all I have seen so far). Who do they want to benefit from that growth. How will they achieve that growth and who will be the immediate winners and who the losers.

It's a bit like asking a six-year-old what they want to do when they grow up. "I want to be rich" would be acceptable at that age but you would hope to develop their reasoning over time, or they might well end up with nothing, or becoming a drug-dealer.

I really want one!

They’re going to be inundated! Truss will be proud of a British company using their initiative and producing these so quickly! I feel a bit sorry for Karen Milan ( sp) whose dress sales might plummet now, though. On the other hand they might become a sort of uniform.

Witzend Thu 06-Oct-22 16:11:02

What’s wrong with people in town houses? What have I missed? ?

In his blog Rory Stewart says he thinks Truss and Kwarteng want to turn this country into a Singapore type economy.

Rory Stewart was our M.P and very good and sensible .
Perhaps we will have a new word Trussian like Trump.Though take away a letter and you have a dictator in all but name or sound as although we all have hernias,

Whitewavemark2 Thu 06-Oct-22 16:28:38

Singapore would be an absolute non-starter in the U.K.

I rather think they are thinking of London, where it wouldn’t be a non starter, there are lots of similarities to Singapore. The rest of the UK doesn’t exist in their minds.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 06-Oct-22 16:36:41

Oh! Bit weird. But then not sure why that should be surprising.

That’s what they said. They seem to be forgetting that there is a country north of Watford. Nothing ever changes does it.

Parsley3 Thu 06-Oct-22 17:23:51

I hope I was hallucinating, but I think I heard a Conservative MP on the radio say When the going gets tough, the Truss gets going.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 06-Oct-22 17:24:46

How would the citizens of London feel about that?

Are they going to be consulted?

Blondiescot Thu 06-Oct-22 17:50:58

If I was considered an enemy of the state (ie, the current government), I'd wear it like a badge of honour!

grannyrebel7 Thu 06-Oct-22 20:20:18

Yes she's ultra right wing, so very dangerous. I just wonder what her parents, the left wing activists, think of her.

DaisyAnne Thu 06-Oct-22 22:01:01

The rest of the UK doesn’t exist in their minds.

I think that is true of quite a lot of MPs, sadly, Casdon.

I really dislike the North/South manufactured division. Dominic Cummings wanted Johnson to stoke up division between the North and the South because he saw that getting people "north of Watford Gap" was a vote winner for Tories. He was right. London has some of the poorest boroughs in the country.

London is more than a few square miles of the City.

growstuff Thu 06-Oct-22 23:03:57

Rory Stewart is right, by the way. There's a group of MPs who are on record as saying they want to turn the UK into a Singapore-style economy. That's why agriculture and fishing were abandoned after votes were grabbed for the referendum.
