If this was a natal born woman standing for election would it be acceptable to tolerated.

Sheffields prospective Labour MP

VioletSky Wed 12-Oct-22 13:23:27

Well obviously it's up to voters if he becomes a candidate right?

maddyone Wed 12-Oct-22 13:18:43

I agree Lathyrus. It’s bad enough that Starmer refuses to say what a woman is without having Izzard denouncing safe spaces for women. I certainly wouldn’t want him in a hospital bed next to me, or in a changing room next to me.
Incidentally, Starmer knows perfectly well what a woman is; he’s married to one.

I feel compelled to point out that Glenda Jackson rolled around naked with Oliver Reed in one of the steamiest films of its day.
And then made, in my opinion, an excellent MP.

As far as I know nobody ever threw that in her face and I’m inclined to believe they would have regretted it if they did.?

I would be more concerned about people who thought it was a good idea to vote for someone who denigrates females and opposes safe places for them.

The thought of an MP with the possibility of exerting power and influence to further that agenda is terrifying.

Good one Blossoming
Would that be his ‘girl penis’?

Blossoming Wed 12-Oct-22 12:47:49

Perhaps Eddie could play piano with his penis while wearing a dress. A vote winner for sure *

* Sarcasm

I'd find Izzard easier to take if he would just plump for one or the other.

I have good news for you...

volver Wed 12-Oct-22 12:44:19

Zelenskyi doesn't dip in and out of being a 'man' or a 'girl' as the mood takes him.

He played piano on tv using his penis. Sometimes Eddie wears a dress. I can't think of anything else to say. ?

FarNorth Wed 12-Oct-22 12:34:31

Why would you find it easy to accept a lie, if he claimed to definitely be a girl/woman?

If you saw a man who looked like Izzard, but was not him, in the hospital bed next to you, would you be happy with that?

25Avalon

Screaming Lord Sutch (remember him?) stood for election with a lavatory pan round his neck. It’s up to the voters at the end of the day.

Because I’d never not vote, when I was equally sick of the lot of them, I did once vote for the Monster Raving Loony candidate.
They certainly used to brighten up election night!

The old film of President Volodymyr Zelensky pretending to play the piano with his penis doesn't seem to have prevented him being taken seriously or stopped him becoming the very definition of a politician you would want on your side in a crisis.

... and me!

Or possibly our future Prime Minister? I guess the country will be in safe hands then..... ?

FannyCornforth Wed 12-Oct-22 11:08:48

I might leave the Labour Party about this.

Esspee

I can’t get past the words “natal born woman”. Surely that is a tautology. The word woman suffices.

Just covering all bases, there are lots of posters on GN with differing ideas of what is a woman

Doodledog Wed 12-Oct-22 10:35:29

Agreed, esspee.

As FN says, I think that Izzard would make a decent MP, but I also agree that his fender politics are too dodgy for me to vote for him.

Sago Wed 12-Oct-22 10:34:45

Attention seeking narc.

It’s a big no from me, if it was a “person that had been born a woman” ( think that is the correct term) then there would be outrage.

Tbf, I think Izzard would take the job of MP seriously and may well be better than many of the bunch who are there now.

The glaring flaw is that his claim to be a 'girl' and everything following from that, contributes to the removal of rights from actual girls and women.

I wouldn't support him for that reason.

FarNorth Wed 12-Oct-22 10:15:05

If the Labour party wants to be taken as seriously as Screaming Lord Sutch & the Monster Raving Loony Party, and to get a similar share of the vote, that's up to them.

Namsnanny Wed 12-Oct-22 10:11:27

I really like Eddie Izzard.

But you're right to pose the question Gg13

The playing field isnt as level as some would think

What a sad/mad country this has become!

Zoejory Wed 12-Oct-22 09:59:24

I rather like Eddie

MaizieD Wed 12-Oct-22 09:58:59

He may well be selected but, unless the Johnson factor of being a well known TV personality works for him, I'm dubious about him getting the votes of the wider Sheffield electorate.
