I wonder if she’s going to sack Kwasi Kwarteng in an attempt to save her own skin.

So, it is HUNT! Bluddy hell. This gets worse.
Mind you he’s a Remainer so many will forgive him if he missteps.

Explain to me how Boris and Truss were remainers and you accept that ?

I agree Lucca that historically they were Remainers but Boris did his ‘pros & cons’ list and decided to throw his hat on the Brexit bus. Truss probably just flip flopped as seems to be her character but came down hard (for a while) negotiating hard with the EU about checks on NI.

Hunt however is and has always been a staunch Remainer. He’s probably got his pal Eeyore Hammond ‘spreadsheet Phil’ on speed dial to run things fiscal and French (EU) past him.

Many MP’s will be delighted tonight. It’s ‘business as usual’.
More of the same from sleek Mr Continuity.

By the way for those who don’t know (or have forgotten), Hunt is the nephew of Virginia Bottomley. Remember her? It’s in his DNA folks.

He had to leave Chequers when Truss took office. He was totally discredited in terms of integrity/trust except for the loyal few and he certainly had NO ideas how to cope with current situation. He nor only dragged replacing himself then swanned away on holiday and this certainly made things a lot worse
how on earth can anyone want him back

All these Chancellors. My washing up liquid has lasted longer than the last 3 have.

I had a horrible feeling they would rue the day they got rid of Boris.

But they couldn’t go on as they were with him, look at the scandal that simply grew and grew.

Btw is he still living in chequers. If so - why and how?

Mordaunt and Sunak - preference for now, while we arrange a GE asap.

grannydarkhair Fri 14-Oct-22 16:24:26

I have this mental image of Truss sitting looking at a list of Conservative MPs going “ eeny, meeny, miny, moe”. Or maybe she pins names to a dartboard?

MayBee70 Fri 14-Oct-22 16:24:11

They can’t just appoint Mordaunt and Sunak as ‘ unifiers’ ( or whatever term they used) can they?

Wyllow3 Fri 14-Oct-22 16:21:57

Hunt, that well known experienced economist......

mamaa Fri 14-Oct-22 16:09:49

Soon there’ll be a new record set for the most cabinet ministers ever to now be lowly backbenchers…

I'm a Remainer, and I won't give him an inch.

... or 2.54 cms grin.

Well, I emailed my MP this morning giving my opinion that Truss and Kwarteng had to go. By lunchtime Kwarteng had been sacked! Who knew I was so influential??? grin
Just waiting for Truss to join him.

Then he will definitely be the shortest serving chancellor??

You prompted me to look. I didn't calculate the exact lengths but I was surprised to find out that a month is not unknown.

I meant Hunt, given that Truss isn’t expected to last the week?

Keir Starmer must be rubbing his hands in glee. The Tories are in complete disarray. They’ll be sorry they got rid of Boris. What a shambles!

BigBertha1 Fri 14-Oct-22 15:14:48

I have just listened to her speech and it's amazing that the assembled press let her get away with that. She didn't answer any questions except by parroting what she had juts said. She seemed to me to be trying to emulate the strategies of Margaret Thatcher without the strength of character and personality and I say that as no fan or Mrs. T.

As for Jeremy Hunt he did his best to ruin the NHS- allowed GPs a fantastic lucrative contract, reduced training numbers of new nurses, cancelled hospital building programmes amongst other of his intiatives.

The pound is falling and interest rates rising since Truss fled her press conference.

That’s totally unfair. We all want what’s best for the country. If someone does something that’s bad for the country we will criticise them. Likewise, if they do something that benefits the country we will support them no matter where we stand regarding leave or remain. Please don’t brand other people with your own tribalism.

varian Fri 14-Oct-22 14:45:02

Just the usual slogans. She only took questions from The Telegraph, The Sun, BBC and ITV and did not even attempt to answer a single question, just regurgitated the mantras.

Why on earth should we put up with her any longer?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Oct-22 14:44:43

Not impressed by the corporation tax u turn ?

Another for bringing back Boris !
