Sunak may be uninspiring - even boring, but there is no way he can be seen as as dishonest, corrupt, lazy and totally incompetent as Johnson, or as cluelessly irresponsibly, crazily destructive as Truss.

Just not being Johnson or Truss could be enough to eat into the Labour lead before the next election.

I’ll be interested to see if Rory and Alastair mention it on The Rest is Politics. Having said that I need to re listen to their predictions for 2023 podcast.

It’s fantasy land. The sooner the country is rid of this crop of hopeless, out of touch, self seeking tories, the better

They had to scrape up an unknown Tory peer to put the case for a Johnson return. Hardly a good sign. Apart from winning votes and spending cash Johnson is useless.

I don't think Johnson would be a winner with the general public, although some in the Tory party might think he would be.

Johnson has already tried and failed for a comeback when the woman the party voted for failed so quickly.

I wouldn’t be totally surprised but it would show how absolutely desperate the party is. Perhaps there are no alternatives though ?

Not sure who the people were (was only half watching) but they all seemed to think that Boris Johnson was going to make a come back after the Conservatives had done badly in local elections. But wasn’t one of the reasons why they got rid of him was that he was causing them to plummet in the polls? Do people really have such short memories ( or has my memory completely shot it?). As with thinking that Trump was gone forever I’m pretty depressed at the thought of having to see and hear Johnson again. And even the Republicans in America seem to understand that the way to election success is not via Trump.
