She was linked for me with the women's movement. Her books varied but "Life and loves of a She-Devil was iconic. Not to mention her advertising career and "Go to work on an egg". RIP Fay

and her struggle to realise and get free from a controlling man, in later life, was so inspiring.

I loved her books when I was younger but have to say, sadly, I’ve tried reading a few of them again since I retired and really didn’t enjoy them much. They’ve all gone to charity shops/free libraries.
RIP Fay.

I'm really sorry to read about Fay Weldon's death although she was quite some age. I read loads of her books quite a long time ago, I loved her style of writing I found it very different. I also read her autobiography "Auto da Fay", she had quite a life which started in New Zealand before she came here. I think she went to St Andrews University, hardly any women were on her course and I remember she wrote one male lecturer practically ignored her, he didn't think she should have been there, that was back in the 1950s. Lots of ups and downs with a couple of not so great husbands, she was undoubtedly quite a trailblazer and a very interesting woman.
