Lisa and Priscilla were at the Grammys, I think it was, just a few days ago. Both in tears about the portrayal of Elvis.

Happy tears though.

I'm not sure they were happy tears, because she has been terribly overcome with grief since the recent death of her only son and the new movie must have brought her father back in a very explosive way with some of his performances. Add to that his 88th birthday on Jan 6th and a speech outside Graceland. It must have all been an emotional roller coaster ride for her which can be quite overwhelming.

It`s always sad to hear of such a young death.
But sadder still,not surpising.

How awful sad

Very sorry to read she died, I think she was naturally devastated by her son's suicide which quite possibly affected her physical health. Heart problems were quite possibly familial and unfortunately substance abuse.

Both cousins may have had the faulty gene and passed it down. Elvis definitely had it. The theory is that he may have been overprescribed drugs for his medical problems. It's all terribly sad.

"consanguinity" that's my new word of the day.

Urmstongran Fri 13-Jan-23 10:20:56

The DM says her grandparents were cousins. Maybe consanguinity played a factor.

Check out the Daily Mail this morning. They have blanket coverage of her life and even mention the family medical problems again. Dozens of pictures of her. She and Priscilla became very close to Austin Butler whilst making the movie about Elvis. It must have been a very strange experience for them seeing him brought to life in that way.

So sad for the family. I do hope Lisa Marie had some real happiness in her life. RIP.

Sadly it appears that an addiction to opiods could well gave been a significant factor in Lisa Marie's heart failure. Just tragic.

It was a great shock this morning because it somehow reminded me of hearing that Elvis had died. His only child has now joined him. I agree there are medical problems in that family. Do you remember this article which says his mother's family had a faulty gene? This may have been compounded when two cousins married if they had both carried the faulty gene. This woman has even written a book about it.

Dead at 54.

She must have lived a strange life.

I've just put that into a personal context.

At 53, I embarked on a new career in a new country with a new partner.

She had, in effect, another 'lifetime' ahead of her.

I'm truly sorry to hear the news.

Her dad died of coronary at 42 ( I think it was around 42) and his mum Gladys died at 48 of coronary I realise Elvis had many other problems and maybe she did too, but it seems there was definitely a thread of coronary disease running through the family
Very very sad, she like him had a strange and unconventional life She had a lot of heartache when her son committed suicidal and I would imagine great peaks and huge troughs
Poor lady very sad
