I don't think there was incompetence, I think there was malice aforethought, and it is obvious from the front pages of several newspapers that this is a 'juicy' subject and one which inflames people. It beggars belief just how many people believe that everything would be ok here, that we could all get GP appointments if it wasn't for those pesky illegal immigrants. A nice distraction from the criminal activities of some MPs and their pals, and party donors. Personally I am more angry about Michelle Mone's yacht than I am about some poor bugger trying to get his family out of Syria and having to resort to people traffickers because there are no legal routes.

It is very important that this is shared and people made aware of this. Braverman, Farage and and others are whipping up hatred to so called 'illegal' immigrants coming in small boats- but they KNOW that they are at fault here- as they wre clearly warned many times that this would happen. There was NO need to get rid of the Dublin agreement as part of Brexit, but they CHOSE to do so, knowing full well they did not have anything at all in place to replace it.

Incompetent? Or much worse. But guilty and responsible they are.

I saw this too, and I agree, why isn't it all over the place for people to read about? I read it on Twitter, The Secret Barrister published the report on his thread. Yet another lie from Johnson, and still Sunak is promising to 'stop the boats'....how exactly? I am forever shouting at the TV when people who should, and do, know better, refer to illegal immigrants, there is no such thing. As the weather improves and the Tory party's popularity slips I expect we will see more reports of these boats full of people arriving, and still there is no answer, no solution, just a lot of mindless slogans and dangerous rhetoric which, sadly, many like to hear.

Johnson was repeatedly warned about leaving without a replacement in place for the Dublin III agreement- but went ahead anyhow. In fact, as the link explained, there was no need to leave Dublin III, even with Brexit, so it could have remained in place.

It's almost as though he was deliberately enabling weaponisation of the asylum seekers issue. That, and appointing Priti Patel to the Home Office.

It's paid off, hasn't it? Riots outside hotels where asylum seekers are 'held', 'othering' narratives about 'illegals', 'invasions' , 'not really asylum seekers', repeated on social media.

Oh I am sorry. It explains that the explosion in numbers of small boats crossing the Channel is due to the failure of the Government to get a 'Returns Agreement' in place at the time of Brexit, to replace the previous agreement part of the EU. Johnson and co were warned about this at the time, but they totally ignored it.

The second part shows that there is NO way someone from war torn parts of Africa to apply for Asylum via a legal route- none whatsoever. They can only come illegally, and the only way is small boats, and then apply once in the UK.
