Following on from the thread about Nicola Bulley, and not wishing to disrupt or disrespect that subject. We briefly discussed irritation about how women are often described by their marital or parental status, and how it is not always relevant to the subject being reported; my peeve is sloppy and lazy journalism. Examples: whenever there is a murder or violent incident, there is always a neighbour who says 'this is such a quiet, close community' and on local TV news in particular, they always have the bereaved sitting on a sofa, flicking through a photograph album. Vox pop interviews on political/economic events are always in a market, during the day, when the majority of people interviewed are elderly, or not working, valid opinions, but not representative. In the grand scheme of things, not important, but I find it really irritating!
Bereavement wipes out everything
