Camilla has reportedly indicated she wants her five grandchildren (three are pictured left); Lola and Eliza, both 15, Freddy, 13, and twins Louis and Gus, also 13, to hold the canopy over her as she is anointed with holy oil on May 6.

Charles is turning it into a jolly for his royal mates (Possibly some of them are bringing donations in plastic bags??)

Anointed with holy oil ! What a farce
I wouldn’t mind the children being involved , but seriously the ‘oil bit ‘ is too far. Do they take us all for fools

Not just fools they treat us as their subjects with disdain.
It's an easy get-out to say no comment which the palace is always saying.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Feb-23 16:56:02

Oh, thank you, just right ixion!

I'll knit you one 😁

Do you think silver or gold trainers?
Or even purple?

Here you are, Callistemon21.
I have the pattern still if you want it😂

I have a neck chain with amethysts attached , I can wear it on my head, well around my forehead, it’s purple ?

Perfick!!

I found some shiny gold boots 🙂

I think it’s a love story for the two of them.
However, I hate the fact that we have to pay for the Coronation.
I wish I could state where my taxes go…and it wouldn’t be for this.
Thank goodness that we will be abroad when it happens.

It was my idea so I get to choose - everyone has to be 5' 9" and a perfect size 10 like me 😁
All wearing white silk gowns with purple and golden trim. You may wear your own family tiaras unless they clash.

I'm afraid our family tiara had to be disposed of when all the precious jewels went mouldy.

I could make another, though. Do they still sell Rowntree's fruit gums?

No equal rights for royalty then. Kings outrank Queens.

Jaxie Mon 27-Feb-23 15:57:14

Who cares? The anointing feels like hypocrisy to me. I do have a shred of interest in Camilla now since she stood against the ridiculous proposed censorship of Ronald Dahl’s books.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Feb-23 15:53:03

Ps, I didn't mean that to sound dismissive Annie1, those of us in RUK may not be familiar with the candidates for leader, so it could be an interesting thread.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Feb-23 15:51:21

You could start a thread about the leadership contest, Annie1, there could be quite a lot of interest.

In the meantime, I'm wondering whether I could get away with trainers under my long silk gown. 🤔

Anniel Mon 27-Feb-23 15:46:04

I am curious about how many of you are Republicans? You are not all Scottish I presume. Anyway this discussion serves to keep the limelight away from Scotland and Ms Sturgeon. Some of us are following the leadership competition. I hope Ms Forbes wins. An honest, direct woman would be a good chouce even if she is religious and says so. Being a Christian seems undesirable to some people in Scotland so we can only wait and see if Scotland will become independent.

He had no rights to be King

So many others before him- nothing new here.

So what do you think should happen? Should the line of succession be broken because you disapprove?

I think Anniebach meant Prince Philip, Fleurpepper

It's interesting, isn't it and why I asked the question - we have had Queen Consorts in the past and now another one, but never King Consorts.

I think Prince Philip was in the line of succession, Anniebach but he was way down the list - about 150?

Oh sorry, I thought Annie meant Charles.

Yes, I wondered about that. But possibly, at a very sensitive historical time, could it have been because he was not born British?

Sorry, when I wrote my last post I couldn't see pages 6 and 7 for some reason, have got them back now.

Callistemon21 Mon 27-Feb-23 15:23:38

Yes, she was.
She wore the crown again at her daughter's coronation.

vintage1950 Mon 27-Feb-23 15:19:59

For what it's worth I think that the Queen Mum was crowned at George VI's coronation.

Do you think she shouldn’t by the way you have worded it like it’s a problem. What grandparents wouldn’t want their grandchildren involved in something like that. I’ve always said if I ever marry again I’d like my grandchildren to walk me down the aisle not my sons and no I’m not getting married again 🤣 before anyone asks

She can do what she wants, they’re still not my monarchs. I’m a citizen, not a subject, and I don’t recognise this ridiculous, outmoded concept of a ‘royal family’.

When I became a British citizen, early 1973- I had no choice. I had to swear on the Bible, in front of a Solicitor for Oaths of Allegiance, that I would be a Faithful Servant of The Queen and her descendants.

Commissioner for Oaths and Allegiance, not solicitor (although he was that too).

OH had to do the same when he found out by chance that he was not British, aged 25! (having arrived in the UK in 1948 as a toddler). We were only discussing this the other day, and wondering if we would do the same again. As said, we had no choice, and at the time, didn't really think about it too much. T'was just a means to an end.
