It had been expected changes would be made to protect women but this is fantastic news. Maybe a new trans category will follow

Better than was expected, a great result. Until a trans category is formed transwomen or nb men can compete in their sex class, the male events. In the same way transmen not on testosterone or NB females can compete in the women's events. The Canadian trans nb footballer Rebecca Quinn plays on the women's national team.

Excellent news. 👍

Well done Seb Coe. He will no doubt be treated badly by some of the militant trans community.

Great news. The only sensible way to divide up is males in the male category and females in the female category. Athletics is a physical sport and should be unaffected by gender woo.

Let's hope this extends to other sports and to other areas such as prisons and refuges.

I share that hope HettyBetty. This decision should influence the planning for trans women

Welll done Sharron Davies.
She campaigned for it from the start I think.

Excellent. Now other sports need to follow suit.

Great news. It seems to have been a long time coming and a big high five for Seb Coe and Sharon Davies.

Great news!
Definitely time for other sports to follow suit.
Time for trans to lobby for their own category too. I’ve been told there are so many trans, that it should be possible to organise it.

Pleased that a decision has been made based on scientific research, and that women athletes have now been given a level playing field. No reason why a new, clearly defined trans category can't be introduced, which would also permit fair competition for them. Well done, Sharon Davies.
