I’m glad she’s been able to have her day in court and the judgment has gone her way, but I wonder if she’ll ever see any of that money?

The courts are going after his property/ properties.

Good. I’m glad he’ll be made to pay. It’s too easy for someone to declare bankruptcy and get out of legal obligations.

I wish they could do something about the people who were in positions of authority, who did nothing through out this.

My daughter lived in a flat opposite a kebab shop in a Northern Market town in 2004, she and her flat mates saw one of these gangs at work.
This was before there had been any news reports of grooming gangs.

They contacted the Police who ignored them.
My daughter then emailed the local MP and copied in the Police.
Eventually surveillance was set up in their flat.

Cameras caught “Mr Big” arriving in his Range Rover with young girls, the girls were then taken upstairs and a variety of older men would arrive.

After a week of surveillance my daughter and her friends were told there was not enough evidence.
They were all astonished as the car number plates were all clear and the 13/14 year old girls could be seen being taken into the shop and then in the windows of the flat above.

About 5 years ago there was a lot of publicity regarding the Police and their poor handling of the gangs.
My daughter had the paper trail still so sent all the evidence.
She heard nothing.

I think the problem was huge and sadly it’s still going on.

My goodness Sago, what a revelation.

I'm going to say this, and risk the 'flak'. If these 13/14 year olds had been the children of the more affluent members of society, I'm pretty sure there would've been more 'interest' from both the police and the other authorities involved.

It is a long standing running scandal of epic proportions. In more ways than one.

And the Uk seems to pride itself in how it thinks it handles the safeguarding of vulnerable people.

Well done to Sago's daughter and her friends.

No flak from me Dickens I'd go further and say these girls were targeted because of fallacious beliefs about their characteristics.

Yes, Sago it's sickening but it is still happening.

Anyone interested should read what Maggie Oliver has to say.
