How does the complete transparency of the ECJ and Brussels compare to the court ISDS the U.K. has just signed up to?

I would be very interested to hear from brexiters in relation to the U.K. sovereignty which we have just completely surrendered - this bears no resemblance to our membership of the EU.

"What on earth was our government thinking?" you ask. What else could it be than how to get as much money from somebody - kickbacks would not surprise me with this shower of despicable people. The whole thing was kept pretty quiet before it was signed, I think. We do keep up with the news as much as we can bear, but didn't know about this shabby deal until a few days ago.

(I know you want to hear from brexiters, Whitewavemark2, and I am emphatically not one. Good luck with getting any reply from them to what you actually want to know!)

The USA would have nothing to do with it, even though it is within its sphere of influence.

Apparently it is now hoping that the U.K. will do the donkey work and keep China out of the trade block. The USA has NI and Brexit as the big lever.

It raises a question in my mind. If these courts are 'secret' how did someone manage to write a PhD thesis on them?

Or are the results which are analysed just the tip of an iceberg; are there far more litigations of which no-one except the parties to the litigation are aware? If so, what were the results? Will we ever know?

While the results of the analysis seem reassuring, why should we accept the jurisdiction of a supranational tribunal when UK governments, and Brexiters have spent the last seven years screaming that we have to get out of the jurisdiction of the ECJ, which performs the same role, but does it transparently?

When remainers said that any big trade bloc would have rules to which we must comply - “project fear” They said -“they need us more than we need them”they said.

So now that it has been firmly established for the non-believers that whoever the U.K. join up with, the U.K. must comply with the bloc’s rules, would it be preferable to join one where there was total transparency and where the voter took part in a democratic process in deciding who and what rules should be adhered to, and the court was itself totally transparent and open to all, or a trade bloc which holds secret courts and where the voter has no clue what is being discussed or rejected, even though they may have voted in a government to carry out particular policies?

Just for your information, ronib there is no such thing as a Scotch whiskey company. Scotch is whisky. Whiskey is Irish or American.

It depends. We already traded with several of the CPTPP members when we were in the EU.
