There was a Trump apologist on R4 this morning, saying that being arrested happens to the very best of people, and this is a positive, as Trump is now in the same group as people such as Nelson Mandela and .....well...Jesus himself was arrested. If it wasn't so scary it would be hysterically funny. I do wonder how the Evangelists square their strict behavioural views with the fact that their 'Messiah' (their words, not mine) slept with a woman while he was married to another, and a woman who was paid to do so, and then paid her off, and lied. Not sure even the most ardent Bible scholar could find a chapter or verse in the Bible where this is acceptable Christian behaviour. For the record, I couldn't care less who he slept with, it is the lies and hypocrisy I detest.
I do care that he has been accused of rape though. This next case is due in 3 weeks and takes place in the civil courts presumably because it is easier to prove “balance of probability “ rather than beyond reasonable doubt, which must be very difficult to prove I would think.
Then there is a potential for causing/encouraging the violence and insurrection on 6 th Jan.
Then there is interference with the election by asking a governor ( I forget which one, but it was in the southern states) to “find” Trump 13k more votes. This one I think has legs as I think there is a recording of the phone call Trump made.
Yesterday the judge made a strong direction that both sides stopped using inflammatory and incorrect language, both at meetings and on social media. Within hours Trump was doing exactly that at an evening meeting with his cult followers.
