Just watching the coronation- like show that is Donald Trump landing in his magic flying machine to face charges in New York. All the prayers, all the wringing of hands which I believe is extremely dangerous to all of us because he is standing to be a future leader of the ‘free’ haha world. What is wrong with these people ? How can they think that a man with his history can be some sort of latter day messiah? We laugh but he poses a real threat to all of us in the future if he gets away with it.

@growstuff, l know. Frightening, isn’t it?

nanna8 Sat 29-Apr-23 12:22:57

I fear for the place with those 2 old bs slugging it out. That’s what happens when you can only have very, very rich people vying for high office. Not a good system.

The claim that Biden is a communist is just so stupid that it's not even laughable.

This appears to be a common belief among Trump supporters. I have heard this from an American lady. Many Americans confuse socialism with communism. The fact is that even the Democrats are to the right of our Tories.

The Democrats aren't even socialist!

Trump is just a rich American version of our apparently "poor " yet entitled ex prime minister Boris Johnson. All huff and bluff . Bad news.

He's not though.

As POTUS he was much more powerful than any British Prime Minister.

Caleo Sat 29-Apr-23 11:32:40

Aveline, I think it's because, for a substantial number of Americans , socialism is evil and the basic message of Jesus is socialist. So the Bible Belt sort of Americans cherry pick the bits that are not socialist.

I was watching Trump extolling the virtues of Xi - he really has lost the plot.

Indeed.

Perhaps he'll end in jail - remainder to his unhealthy life.

Luckygirl3 Sat 29-Apr-23 09:08:57

If he gets convicted of any of his alleged offences it will simply increase his messiah status amongst the herd. They will believe he can rise from the dead. Poor deluded souls.

Think Hitler!!!

Pathetic.no not a Trump supporter by any means. To compare him with Hitler. Really. No comparison. Oh I see, his "magnetism" for many. Same as Obama really. Who is on record to have deported more illegal immigrants than Trump!

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 29-Apr-23 08:11:27

managing the information that his daughter had a termination in college? A friend from that time has publicly declared this.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 29-Apr-23 08:10:03

Oh my happycatholicwife that's quite the rant. Just one teensy weeny little question- how is the Trump stand on abortion

happycatholicwife1 Sat 29-Apr-23 00:42:00

I claim no knowledge of British politicians. But I do know American ones very well. Most of the Democrats in this country have no idea what is about to be foisted on them. Donald Trump was wealthy when he came to office. His family are not freeloaders, they are well educated and hard-working. Don't think I'm saying perfect. I am not. Joe Biden is a pariah who hasn't held a job, other than working for the government, since he was in high school. Read up about John Fetterman, recently elected to congress. These are the kinds of people the Democratic Party supports: people who can be manipulated, bribed, coerced into doing what they want. We are under the greatest challenge to our freedom since World War II. The Democrats, make no mistake are about communist policies. See what is happening in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, New York City, Los Angeles, San francisco. I live in a nice neighborhood which used to be unquestionably safe. It is now rife with car thefts and home invasions. The bidens are among, if not the most, corrupt officials in our government. They have gotten everything they have from being in office. The trumps, at least, had money when they came to Washington. Regardless of what you think of Donald Trump as a man, his presidency was very good for this country. It is utter chaos here now, comparatively speaking. We actually have people who support the disgusting and primitive practice of partial birth abortion. Did you know there were states that are debating what to do if a baby survives an abortion? The Liberals in this country are not classic liberals of old, they are hard bitten socialists and communists who are destroying the middle class. And while you are thinking of Donald Trump as a cheater, remember Joe Biden's own daughter said in her Memoir that her father used to bathe with her, naked, long past babyhood, and that she blames him for being hypersexualized and promiscuous.

He wants to be omnipotent like Xi and have a population that obeys instructions.

I was trying to think of positives about Trump and the only remote one was he understands and relates to the dictators of the world- and I think they also 'get' him. On the same wavelength.

R4 this morning, reports of Trump telling of his court appearance. According to him, even hardened Police and Prison Officers had tears in their eyes as they witnessed the travesty of his charges being read out.

I really hope that some of our USA Gransnetters can give us some hope - or even some good news, about a presidential candidate that we don't need to worry about.

What is wrong with America?

They are ,many intelligent people, many intelligent capable politicians in America, but the present choice seems to be between serial liar and philanderer Trump (who seems to exhibit very low intelligence and a psychopathic narcissistic personality) and De Santos (apparently even more bonkers right wing than Trump) and the octogenarian somewhat suspect Biden or the only other Democrat contender I've heard of so far - Robert Kennedy Junior- a 69 year old anti-vaccine campaigner.

Come on USA - surely you can do better than that!

You couldn’t make it up could you?

Everyone makes mistakes, but Trump encouraged insurrection and lied about winning the election. He lied about how many people turned up in the Mall to his inauguration. He is an inveterate liar.

As for being good at business, he is now worth significantly less that he was when he started in business, backed up by daddy's money. He's terrible at business.

He is a self made man - self made in that he makes himself out to be something he's not.

Trump is many things, but he most certainly is not a good businessman. i assume his Father was aware of his shortcomings as even he couldn't manage to get him a job anywhere. It has been said that if the money Daddy gave him had been put in ISAs or equivalent safe savings, they would be worth more than Trump is now. He is a one man fraudulent Ponzi scheme, up to his neck in debts.

Indeed.

Horrible in business, Dad banked him a very large amount. My brother, a soon to retire NYC attorney likens Don to a lying liar who lies. That about covers it all.

Wow! How many politicans are there in the world? Obviously all squeaky clean, of course. Yes, Trump is human, he makes mistakes but I think the real reason people don't like him is his Self Confidence and swagger. He knows he's good at business. He's a billionaire for goodness sake and people don't like successful people. So, what have they got asd President, an old guy with dementia (I know what dementia looks like in a person's face), a VP who probably wouldn't get a job teaching Kindergarten, an ex-President who was VERY friendly with a lady named Monica and whose wife has a lot of involvement in chemical companies that poisoned all our gardens because we can't be bothered to pull up weeds.

If he's that astute a businessman, how did he manage to lose most of the money his father "loaned" him?
