There is already a thread on this which may be of interest to you Daisy. For some reason it's under the Christmas forum.

Crossed posts volver apologies.

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 10:50:51

I suspect because some posters think all their Christmases have come at once.

Funnily enough I didn't look at the Christmas forum! I did think that Sturgeon's resignation was unexpected.

I will refer you to the Alex Salmond case when Gransnet was alive with the "of course he's a sex offender brigade" .of course he was aquitted .
Dont believe everything that comes from the very anti SNP media ,as far as I was aware these allegations had been investigated by Police Scotland already and dismissed ...unless its something new when I will of course wait until the result is in before making judgement

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 11:32:26

He's actually been charged. They must have enough evidence to do that. It's hilarious that you think the media is anti SNP. They've been suspiciously pro SNP for years thanks to their enormous number of costly spin doctors.

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 11:35:53

Is being arrested the same as being charged?

The MSM are pro SNP then? Do you not watch the BBC in your house?

This enormous number of spin doctors, do you have that figure at hand? Compared with the number and costs of the Scottish Tory spin doctors, for instance?

Parsley3 Wed 05-Apr-23 11:42:59

My mistake. I didn't notice that I had posted the Peter Murrell thread under Christmas. I have contacted GNHQ to get it moved.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 11:46:45

FOI in 2022 found that the number of spin doctors had risen by 50% to 176 at the cost to the Scottish tax payer of £9 million. Nuff said.

Sorry Aveline you need a link to keep some people happy, then no doubt they wont accept it 🤣

Well first of all. Aveline says £9m and the Herald say £3.7m . Pick a number, any number.

The Herald says the amount has doubled since 2006. So the bill has doubled over 17 years. Do I need to explain inflation to anyone? Has your shopping bill gone up at all over that time? Cost of a car? Anything else? Or is it just government employees that you think should cost the same as they did 17 years ago?

Oh and these "spin doctors"? Do they include the techie people who maintain the websites of the Scottish government, and people who organise events, such as the public's visits to the Parliament?

(Clue - they do)

So call them "spin doctors" if you like. Suits the narrative, and shows just how much you understand.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 15:45:35

Volver I'm worrying about you now. We all have access to Google and can find out any information these days. It's almost too easy.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 15:47:38

BTW this is where the £9 million came from.

Blondiescot Wed 05-Apr-23 15:51:42

Might I point out that this is now a live case under Scots Law. Warnings have already been given about the possible consequences of commenting on it - so be careful what you post.

volver3 Wed 05-Apr-23 16:07:08

Aveline

BTW this is where the £9 million came from.

The Scottish Daily Express. Its the Scottish Daily Express. 🤦🏼

So here are the facts, from the actual FOI, without the Scottish Daily Express "Spin".

Number of FTE Communications Staff 175.65, which the SDE quite rightly round up to 176. Here are the functions these employees do:

frontline communication staff/press officers, public information and behaviour change marketing campaigns, strategy & behavioural insight, Brand Scotland brand marketing (cross organisational partnership), cross government strategic communications, digital platforms (including gov.scot) and social content function, media monitoring, internal organisation engagement and business administration management.

To call them spin doctors is disingenuous.

The number of FTE Frontline Communications Staff/Press Officers is 54.77.

So the Scottish Tories slam them for having people to manage communication during a pandemic and the Scottish Daily Express report it verbatim.

Maybe we can all google things, but many of us don't have the ability to understand the meaning of the things we find.

I appreciate you saying that you worry about me, but please don't, thank you. Worry instead about the MSM presenting data in a way that they hope will undermine an elected government.

Aveline Wed 05-Apr-23 16:23:34

In your opinion Volver which apparently counts for much more than anyone else's! 😂😂😂

I sometimes wish I wasn't so able to see when I'm being hoodwinked by the MSM. Life would be so much easier if I was gullible...
