Oreo I’m like you knew of him but nothing else he hasn’t featured in my life, and didn’t even know he was married but Alzheimer’s is a very distressing disease and it’s sad when anyone dies
I don’t know any young punks nowadays it’s all rap, and drum and bass and heavy thumpy stuff

Grantanow Fri 07-Apr-23 18:10:57

RIP

Punk was popular, it is a generic term like 'classical music' it embraces a whole genre of music that is popular with young people, in the same way classical music embraces the whole range of music from medieval church music, through Beethoven to the work of avant garde modern composers whose atonal music sets my teeth on edge.

He sounds to be a caring husband.
Must admit I know nothing about him really, he was a punk rocker of course, and later did ads for English butter which I liked.Alzheimers is a terrible thing to have.
Lovely to have had such a long happy marriage.

That's right Blondiescot his love for his wife speaks volumes about the man.
RIP Nora.thanks

Whatever people may or may not think of JL himself, they spent a lifetime of devotion together and he cared for her very much in sickness and in health, through the most cruel of diseases. He must be bereft without her.

I think that John would be more offended by being affiliated to ‘the pop music world’ than anything else that Monica has said wink

Galaxy Fri 07-Apr-23 11:25:36

Never ever go on MN Joane, it will blow your mind.
I have just read some more about the family history, with regards to them caring for their teenage grandchildren, a difficult life in many ways.

Monica how crude! Completely unnecessary on this thread. Be ashamed of yourself.

Why should she be ashamed? She raised a very valid point in a way that JR would no doubt approve of!

volver3 Fri 07-Apr-23 11:19:45

Don't be ashamed of yourself M0nica.

So sorry to read this. You did a wonderful job caring for your wife Johnny. RIP Nora.

A story of such love and devotion is always moving, but that they maintained this marriage in the pop music world where marriage and relationships are so often shag today, gone tomorrow, raises this relationship to alevel all of its own.

rafichagran Fri 07-Apr-23 03:22:09

I am very sorry to hear this.

I’ve just been looking at photos of John and Nora, and they were always laughing.
I didn’t realise until just now that Nora was the mother of the late Ari Up.

grannydarkhair Thu 06-Apr-23 22:06:24

Condolences to John, RIP Nora.
This is a link to “Hawaii” the love song he wrote to Nora, which he hoped would raise awareness of dementia.

So sad, they seemed such a devoted couple and he cared for her so selflessly.

Galaxy Thu 06-Apr-23 21:13:51

He spoke so movingly about her, and about caring for her, it's very sad.

JaneJudge Thu 06-Apr-23 21:02:57

volver3 Thu 06-Apr-23 20:59:19

"Devotion" is the right word, isn't it?

henetha Thu 06-Apr-23 20:48:11
