This brave man is being slowly poisoned ā€˜it is reported’ in an inhuman cell, with little lighting, for standing up to that brute Putin. I know there is nothing we can do to save him but I feel anyone who is able to should in some way advertise his plight.

His parents who were about to visit him recently were stopped at the last minute and his wife and daughter haven’t been allowed to visit either.

Putin’s and his henchmen say it is nothing to do with them, it’s up to the prison.

For anyone who is a believer please pray šŸ™ for him and others please just keep him in your mind.

I just hope his suffering ends soon. šŸ’

Just re-read your post Maremia and see you have kindly offered to write to the FS. I will do my MP.

That poor man - he will find it hard to survive that dump. It just confirms in my mind what a shocking bully Putin is and they are stuck with him for the duration because their ā€˜elections’ are a joke.

Alexei Navalny has sent a message via X (twitter) stating:
"I am your new Santa Claus...and I now live above the Arctic Circle. I don't say Ho Ho Ho but I do say Oh Oh Oh as I look out of the window, where I can see a night, then the evening, and then the day again."
Such courage.
Putin will never let Navalny go as it is a message to Russians who might be tempted to support him. He doesn't care a jot what the West thinks of him, and many Russians agree with him.

And Spabbygirl, if you think this government is behaving like Putin, you need to get out more.
Preferably to Russia.

That's an email sent to Lord Cameron at the HOL, and automatic reply received. Parliament is on holiday just now, so it might take a while to get a proper reply. Will keep you up to date with any progress.

Maremia Wed 10-Jan-24 15:54:57

RESULT! The reply today from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office says 'For information on how to pass on your message you may wish to contact the Anti-Corruption Foundation's campaign to free Navalny via [email protected]'
Please feel free to contact this organisation (the more the merrier), or you can wait until I get more details.

Thank you!

Great - thank you Maremia.

Thank you to those who are keeping this thread alive. I haven't posted before, but just thought it was time I said that I am watching the thread and thinking about the brave Alexei Navalny.

Just about to email the address given, and swithering whether or not to mention Gransnet. We are all meant to be anonymous. Yes, I know, the Glasgow Grans actually meet up at Christmas.

Maremia Sun 14-Jan-24 12:13:41

So sorry about the delay. Have been unwell with high temperature, but not Covid, so far. That's the email sent, and I did mention Gransnet.

Smileless2012 Sun 14-Jan-24 12:18:46

Hope you feel better soon Maremia flowers

No marching for this incredibly brave man, no banners denouncing Putin and his invasion into Ukraine. I'm all for peaceful protests, but they do seem very one sided and unfortunately emphasise on one horror only.

NanKate Sun 14-Jan-24 19:53:19

Very well done Maremia. I will follow suit and contact the Navalny email. šŸ‘

I am awaiting a reply from my MP who came back to me asking for my full details to confirm I am one of her constituents. I hope to get an address or email soon. The more the merrier in my opinion.

When I saw AN smiling from his ā€˜hell hole’ I thought what an utterly brave man. I very much hope when Putin is no longer here that he will be released, sadly this won’t happen in my lifetime or that of his poor parents.

Maremia Tue 23-Jan-24 13:33:00

Thanks for those flowers Smileless. Much better now. Still no response from that email address. Has anyone contacted Amnesty International? I have bought my card, and my son in law said it will never get to him. I explained that it will get somewhere along the line, and the support for Navalny will be noted.

NanKate Wed 24-Jan-24 07:43:23

Maremia thanks for your efforts. Still waiting to hear from MP.

Will get back on the case soon, after having eye surgery tomorrow.

Luckygirl3 Wed 24-Jan-24 08:00:05

I am not sure I understand how we know about the conditions he is being held under or his state of nutrition if the authorities do not allow anyone to see him. It sounds appalling but how is it that we know these things?

Maremia Wed 24-Jan-24 09:10:51

If you can buy the Guardian, or read it online, they have recently published two articles/updates about Navalny, including photographs. Good luck with the surgery NanKate

Luckygirl3 Wed 24-Jan-24 09:17:04

Thank you for that information.

eazybee Wed 24-Jan-24 09:40:42

According to the Telegraph Alexei Navalny is being woken at 5am every morning with pro-Putin music every morning. He has said this himself, but how he is able to report this I do not know. Possibly allowed as a deterrent because it will be a brave person who will follow his example.

NanKate Mon 29-Jan-24 16:00:04

I think this very brave man has contact with her solicitors who pass on his messages.

Putin is beyond evil.

NanKate Mon 29-Jan-24 16:04:52

Thanks Maremia I’m happy to say the laser eye treatment has been a success, however the nurse put in the wrong eye drops at the beginning of the procedure,so instead of taking 30 mins it took 2 hours, having 8 lots of drops to get me to where I was supposed to be. 😳

The nurse came to apologise to me personally and I said there were far worse things going on in the world and I don’t let small things worry me anymore. She was grateful.

Maremia Mon 29-Jan-24 20:21:23

Oh no! And that was kind of you to re-assure the nurse.
I have just looked up the contact, by email, details for The Guardian, and will send a request to them. They have an article today about the forthcoming elections in Russia. Failing that, will have a go at Amnesty International.
eazybee mentioned the Telegraph, but I don't have that online.

Maremia Thu 01-Feb-24 16:44:27

Foreign Office can't offer anything else beyond the email address [email protected], but meanwhile one of the Guardian Editors has sent a click link straight to the penal colony IK-3, and an address for posting. The only big, huge, enormous problem is that it is all in Russian. Doh! So we need an in between address, that is someone sympathetic who can receive our cards and be able to post them on. Any ideas?

Maremia Sun 11-Feb-24 18:07:48

That's the email off to Amnesty International. If anyone else is making progress, please let us know.

NanKate Mon 12-Feb-24 08:14:54

Sorry I have been off grid recently will come back later today.
