So, how worried should we be about AI?

They do talk to each other, and they quickly turn nasty, as they are aping what humans do.
They have access to everything that is available on the internet and replicate it.
It really is very, very scary

And it is used, as I understand it by lawyers, etc. etc.
Someone said to me, one ChatGBT whatever, can talk with another one, or will be able to soon. I laughed.
He assured me it was no laughing matter.

We aren’t dealing with ‘artificial’ intelligence.
It is all of our intelligence writ large.
Think of how even the more humble mortals have access to Alexa, who scours the internet for us.
There will be no need for lawyers, doctors, teachers etc etc.
It will bring about a need for universal basic income.
It’s going to be a revolution that we haven’t seen the likes of before

What AI can do at the moment is just a party trick.

AI is artificial intelligence and yes it can be put in charge of machinery. We already have robots capable of performing tasks and artificial intelligence could easily be used to take jobs away from people by combining machinery with the intelligence to run itself

Another example is that many phone lines are now automated, an AI who could actually listen to your complaint, make a decision about how to handle it and ensure consumers were satisfied would take many jobs from people

I find I miss half the articles on the TV and radio about the new AI they mean, while my brain is reprogramming from the AI which I understand - which is Artificial Insemination.

A hit song (Drake and the Weeknd) has just been removed from Spotify and other platforms. It was created by AI, the removal is due to copyright and simulated their voices, would anyone have known that?

Of course it’s man made. In the beginning to save money.
Software development costs billions. Now they’ve found a cheaper way.
VioletSky. These are tech robots ( if you like) they are not what you would see in a car assembly plant. They can’t repair roads 🤦🏼‍♀️

There was a series on ITV a few months ago with Holly Grainger ( the girl in Strike) called the Capture where she was a police officer in intelligence and they distorted live TV and CCTV images to make people say and do things that were untrue. Once they start making programmes about it you know that the technology is out there it is only a matter of time before it becomes a reality. I do think that they will be using Robotic AI soon in places like care homes and Hospital to fill the staff shortage. While not imminent definitely in the next 10 years.

The big issue is the ability for AI to produce videos of say Biden or Trump “saying” stuff that never happened. So I assume this can be done for every politician, or whoever.

How on earth are we to know what is true. I think Winston Smith would certainly recognise this.

We should be extremely worried about AI
It’s going to put whole swathes of people out of work, especially the middle classes.
It’s going to be an absolute nightmare

It worries me because it has so many potential uses and misuses. Also to a very large extent the output depends on the quality of the input we already know how biased algorithms can be because the data is often decided by white men. I think it will change our lives dramatically and many of us will struggle to adapt.

I think it is a man made tool like any other and can be turned to good or bad like any tool.

Good would be something like, having all cars driven by AI and the resulting lack of accidents

Bad would be having all cars manufactured by AI, having all roads repaired by AI.. granted it would remove human error but it would also remove human jobs

I think access to many systems like defence systems would be limited because they are closed systems not connected to the Internet and are the instructions for use are not available for an AI to learn.

We have to be careful how we use our tools though when creating things superior in intelligence to ourselves

I think it's terrifying. It's difficult enough to establish 'truth' these days without adding a fresh source of potential disinformation. Because AI can get things completely wrong as well as right.

It’s been with us for some years now innocently. It saves a lot of time and money in big tech.
An example was given on woman’s hour last week. An intro to the program was read out. The presenter told us that the blurb was AI generated.
I’m not worried about things I can’t change. But for sure I think we should all doubt what we see and are told.
There was a story today of a photographer who had won a prestigious photography award. At the prize giving he declined the award as he told the judges the photo was AI generated.

What is CHbT?

Is AI the same as CHbT or whatever it is called? I know a little bit about the latter, but if it is not the same as the former, then I know next to nothing.

Did you see the art photo entry done as it turns out by a machine? I think that it can also produce music in the style of a great composer.

I may be missing a point, but to me this has no value or point, as what we value and admire is the human creativity contained in the piece. I fail entirely to see the value of machine produced stuff.
