Is Braverman pitching for Tory leader ? what do you think ?

Siope Wed 17-May-23 10:56:10

Sorry, not rounded. Ignore that. But my question about source stands.

Siope Wed 17-May-23 10:55:08

Currently birth rate in Uk is 1.56
For all of UK not separated into brown/white . As everyone knows anyway the migrant population has more children than the indigenous population.

What is your source for this figure, please. Live (or indeed any) births are not, to my knowledge, collected on a UK wide basis.

Your figure (assuming it’s rounded) is in line with the ONS figure for live births for England and Wales.

Casdon I am tempted to say that self sufficiency isn’t really the end goal- we benefit from being a diverse society or at least, we could.
Let me think about it.

Talking about "caps" on posts.

Could we have a cap on posts that talk rubbish or spout unsubstantiated nonsense??

Any chance of that?

If you like,
Limit your own to 2 per thread? 😂

ronib you write common sense, but common sense is not so common😃

What do you mean by indigenous?

I hope nobody on here has an Irish background. Apparently, you're not indigenous and breed like rabbits. hmm

I'm confused ...I always believed Westminster HAD control over immigration....they just didn't use it .
The boat migrants are entirely due to the incompetence of the WM government ,Give these people a LEGAL way to apply for asylum and process their applications quickly ,that way no one will be risking their lives and the lives of their children in small boats and paying a fortune to do it .
There are a lot of people crossing who have experience of work that the uk needs .Please let them use their experience ,that would be a win win solution

Sshhh. Stop talking common sense.

Casdon no one person is responsible. However
1. Ageing population
2. Declining birth rates
3. Inadequate training for employment
4. Problems with an antiquated social class system
5. Controversially older people in their 70s are filling the skills gap so that can be rethought.
6. The changing role of women in society? Hot potato subject but can consider.
Etc etc

And there was me thinking it was because there are so many people on the sick.

So, following on from your suggested reasons, from one social scientist to another, what do you think the solutions are which curb migration and address the reasons so that we are self sufficient?

growstuff Wed 17-May-23 10:23:59

Curiously, Miriam Cates has been going on about keeping the birth rate up, for the sake of the economy. She thinks more women should be staying at home and that childcare is too easy. She also thinks that women should be having their children younger.

I find this puzzling. She's saying that we need at least to maintain the population numbers, if not increase them. Presumably what she really means is that we need to maintain the number of white faces and not bolster the numbers with brown faces.

Bella23 Wed 17-May-23 10:21:02

I think she appears to be making a pitch for the leadership to get back to the original question.
Or is she playing a bluff and trying to put Sunak off who his leadership contenders really are? Hoping for a good position if the Conservatives won at the next general election.

ronib Wed 17-May-23 10:18:04

V3 we need a cap on migration numbers and a cap on continued insults on this forum.

If you keep going the way you are posting just now ronib, you'll disappear up your own circular argument.

ronib Wed 17-May-23 09:59:58

V3 the fact that we have a points based migration system doesn’t mean that we can house, feed, educate, transport etc a limitless number of people in these categories.

This government is not being honest but no government is!

Glorianny Wed 17-May-23 09:56:44

I'm wondering how many people on here, wanting to keep people, out will be complaining very loudly in the future, because they can't get the care staff they need.

volver3 Wed 17-May-23 09:49:43

That was to Ronib

volver3 Wed 17-May-23 09:49:20

There's no point in actually posting the reasons why you are 100% wrong, because you'll just deny it, but I'll post it for anybody who wants to actually educate themselves about this.

V3 the fact is that there’s no attempt to limit legal migration at the moment.
All the emphasis is on the allegedly ‘illegal’ boat people.

Who do you think is responsible for the need to allow so many legal migrants into the country ronib?

volver3 Wed 17-May-23 09:37:12

Oh, I do.

Send them all the boats and help them into the boats and give them the latest mobile phones and flat screen TVs when they get here. Turf the older population out of care homes to live on the street and evict the council tenants and put the Albanians in their place. Tell them to send for their families, we'll be happy to see them.

Which bit of nobody is calling for unlimited immigration is it that you are finding hard to grasp?

ronib Wed 17-May-23 09:34:16

Have you been to Monaco? I wouldn’t get off the bus and went to Menton instead. Yes Monaco ghastly.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 17-May-23 09:32:56

We don’t all want thousands of people arriving in dinghies.

volver3 Wed 17-May-23 09:31:50

This is like banging your head against a wall.

Whatever anybody says, then answer is basically we don't want any more foreigners.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 17-May-23 09:31:41

Brownfield sites should be used first. They are typically, though not exclusively, in areas where infrastructure is available. Many have a negative land value due to high levels of contamination and therefore developers won’t touch them. This is something that the government could address, by providing decontamination funds maybe in exchange for a share of the profits when the development is completed.
