I agree I am much more frightened of those who cant cope with other views than those who hold views different to mine.

growstuff Fri 19-May-23 04:28:45

Danny Kruger and Miriam Cates are both evangelical Christians, which possibly explains their ideology.

Not everyone agrees with assisted dying and that is their prerogative. I don’t see that people with those views should be condemned and the same with anti abortionists. It is when they force their opinions on others that there is a problem. People can make their own minds up or is that not allowed now ?

I’ve never heard of half of them, no worries. They shouldn’t give these people publicity if they disagree with them so strongly was my first thought. Once the publicity is there they will get followers, just what happens.

Many of us would never have known if it hadn't been on GN!

Well if anyone is interested, the NatCons conference London 2023 is now available on YouTube. So we can hear what was discussed… without having to second guess. Then we can make up our minds?

I watched that documentary. I didn’t take much notice of who the son was. Note to self, take more notice of the people you watch in documentaries.
Didn’t his mum agree with assisted dying? And he disagreed?

Fleurpepper Wed 17-May-23 21:22:21

I only know him from the documentary he did wit his mother on assisted dying. So reactionary and traditionalist for the sake off, and no compassion.

Callistemon21 Wed 17-May-23 20:14:21

Oh!

His Mum is Prue Leith! Are you on Gransnet, Prue?
I'd avoid this thread if I were you 🙂

Danny Kruger would not even exist if his father had stayed faithful to his wife and not had a long adulterous affair with his mother.

Well, that's not his fault!!

I had to look up who Danny Kruger is. I must be the only person on the thread who had never heard of him.

I thought he might have something to do with gold.

Galaxy Wed 17-May-23 19:15:34

That might give him an insight into the damage of affairs I suppose.

varian Wed 17-May-23 19:06:50

Danny Kruger is the current favorite of the Brexit Broadcasting Corporation. He is seldom off the airwaves.

I don’t think I’d get a place even for the first term Callistemon. My football’s not up to much. Oh well.

Callistemon21 Wed 17-May-23 18:30:35

maddyone

You can do a degree in Beckham Studies.

I might apply.

I got a place but failed the first term. I just couldn't bend it like Beckham (it's me knees).

maddyone Wed 17-May-23 17:37:15

Well it’s only part of the degree in Sport, Media and Culture on offer at Staffordshire University.

But I wanted to do it.

Do you think you need to be able to play football? That requirement might disqualify me.

ronib Wed 17-May-23 17:37:13

Wasting time on the internet is offered by
Pennsylvania University

growstuff Wed 17-May-23 17:32:16

From Wiki:

In 2000, Staffordshire University received negative press coverage when a module on the sociological importance of football which had been designed for students taking sociology, sports science, or media studies was portrayed as a "degree in David Beckham Studies". A professor for the department stressed that the course would not focus on Beckham, and that the module examines "the rise of football from its folk origins in the 17th century, to the power it's become and the central place it occupies in British culture, and indeed world culture, today"

volver3 Wed 17-May-23 17:28:20

You most certainly can not.

I agree that fewer people should go to university. For many it seems to be an experience to which they are entitled - hence we have many graduates of inferior universities and/or with inferior degrees who cannot find employment and will probably never pay off their student loans.

Do you have any evidence for this GSM? Because if you haven't I am afraid it comes across as pure snobbery.

You could not make it up, could you?

DD1 chose to g to a red brick Uni- because the course there was up-to-date, well organised, with young and motivated Lecturers- whereas the traditional so called 'better' Unis had old lectured, bored with doing the same stuff all the time, carying around pages of typed materials yellowed with age.

And never regretted it. Pure snobbery from many.

Galaxy Wed 17-May-23 17:15:33

I dont particularly approve or disapprove, I can cope with people expressing those views.
