I cried on the morning of the referendum result because I was scared that he would become PM.

I have since wished that he actually had become PM then; and we could have got him out of the way before Covid struck

Boris is an old Etonian so he should be well educated but IMO he must have been absent when integrity, humility and honesty were being taught.

I have never come across pregnant women being looked down on, whatever the reason. Since when has it been shameful to have sex, as a general thing? I am not talking about previous ideas of when it was moral or not.

You may not have come across it, but I can assure you, it was a 'thing' with some men (and women).

An obviously pregnant woman - even if well-covered - made some people feel uncomfortable.

Allegedly, Elvis Presley no longer found his wife attractive after she gave birth to their child - his feelings changed even after she became pregnant - apparently. He was a bit of a man-child. Insecurity and immaturity.

Even down to his name which is Alexander. But his second name suits the loveable cuddly cheeky happy image he has cultivated over the years. Which, even now, is still fooling people. Every now and again the mask drops and you see the real man behind the image and it isn’t a nice one. Rory Stewart, who usually doesn’t have a bad word to say against anyone despises him for what he has done to his party.

Yes, he’s overweight and couldn’t care less about how he looks but he is down to earth and can laugh at himself so maybe those are all traits that add to his charisma. My Mum absolutely adored BJ.

He's not really laughing at himself at all. To do that, you have to have insight, and not take yourself too seriously.

Boris Johnson takes himself very seriously - which is why he looks thunderous when anyone calls him out.

Yes - that is basically what my OH (late OH) said at the time.

I think he felt quite miffed about it and actually suggested he go and confront the man - yikes! He was the type to go in guns blazing and would've said to the manager, "you got to sit behind that desk because your mother and father had sex, mate" . We just had a good laugh about it in the end, but it rankled, and still does - which is why I remember it so clearly. It actually shocked me.

But then, another bank took me on, together with another pregnant temp, and even dug up a special table from the basement to accommodate our huge stomachs, so we could sit comfortably and type - and kept plying us with tea and coffee. So I got over it!

I can too! He has a naughty glint in his eye, he is very intelligent and well educated, he seems to have always been able to attract females from his University days and I bet he is good fun in bed!!

I remember seeing a picture of a pregnant African woman in Body Shop. It will have been during the eighties, I think. She wasn't wearing much other than beads and her pregnancy was obvious. I thought the woman was absolutely beautiful.

As for women being regarded as "fanciable sexual objects", well we are. So are men. Otherwise we'd never procreate. Say sexual animals or sexual beings if you prefer but it's the same thing. I don't know why people are so afraid of the idea.

Dickens I was never ashamed about my bump but didn't feel it necessary to display it nude nor outlined to the general public!

I am not a Boris fan, never have been, but I wish Carrie a straightforward confinement and a healthy baby for them both.
As others have said the children don’t ask to be part of a growing “brood”.

When I was in my early early twenties I used to wear loon pants and mock tops. I found that maternity smocks looked good so I used a pattern I found and made them myself. I was sewing one in my lunch break at work one day and someone jokingly asked when it was due and I replied ‘not for awhile yet’. Next think I knew I’d been moved to another job ( a seated one: as a filing clerk I was on my feet most of the day). It was all very embarrassing when my boss realised I wasn’t actually pregnant.

I suppose that now Boris is no longer Prime Minister, he had nothing else to do.

How refreshing to see the discreet way that Carrie has dressed for her pregnancy. Surely I am not the only one who is heartily sick of seeing hugely distended stomachs day after day. The actual bump is delightful for the parents but far too much detail for me!

I worked as a temp in one of the well-known banks in London in the early 70s (in the 'back' office) when I was just over 7 months pregnant. I wore what was quite popular then (for pregnant women) - an 'Empire-line' dress (had a selection of 3 different colours), with trendy white knee-length leather boots. The man I worked for never seemed comfortable when I was in his office taking dictation.

After a few days I was told by the temp agency that the booking was cancelled- it should've been for a month. Chatting to the manageress, it seemed he was uncomfortable with me being pregnant - I've no idea why (and probably, neither had he) and the manageress was very embarrassed by the whole situation, but obviously couldn't divulge the conversation in detail. My work wasn't at fault.

Some men have a hang-up when confronted by pregnancy. I discussed it with my other half - his view was that for some men, a visible pregnant stomach upset them because they saw women as fanciable sexual objects, and they didn't like to see the reality of a pregnant woman! In the 50s and 60s, women attempted to conceal their pregnancies with loose fitting 'angel' tops - some people didn't think it 'seemly' for a 'baby-bump' to be obvious. My grandmother told me that when she was seven and a half months pregnant, she felt obliged to stay indoors as much as possible - because there were people who certainly disapproved of her appearance.

So frankly, I'm glad that young women no longer conceal their stomachs as if it's something to be ashamed of.

Middle-aged men with huge beer-bellies, barely covered by their overstretched T shirts, feel free to walk around in public with no shame attached... so...

Despite the cooing over the prospect of yet another Johnson baby and the optimistic hopes of him having changed his ways, I think it is deeply irresponsible to be bringing yet another child into an overpopulated world tottering on the brink of irreversible climate change.

But then, irresponsibility is Johnson's forte, isn't it?

Add me to the list of irresponsible parents, we have five children, would have been six but I miscarried during the pregnancy.
