I think they are getting on the bandwagon of bellingcat but aren't as good at it. Bellingcat I do trust.

Oh, I don't know, Meryl. I rather like journalism that is fact oriented.

I think Professor Charlie Beckett of the LSE summed up the bbc perfectly.
The bbc is a safe haven for boring, middle of the road, fact orientated journalism

The Brexit Broadcasting Corporation lost its reputation for truth and impartiality in 2016 when it presented truth from experts urging us to vote Remain balanced with lies from charlatans urging us to vote Leave (as if they were ever comparable let alone equally valid) .

I think the BBC presents us with it’s view of the truth.

I’m inclined to think they do the opposite all too often, by claiming impartiality requires them to give equal time and weight to two sides of an issue, when one is demonstrably correct - climate change was a one such longstanding mess.

However, my understanding of the new service is that it will be providing access to raw or original footage, data etc where this has been amended or edited egregiously.

Ha, this has been shown to be just as biased in its own way. The presenter has been shown to have dubious credentials. See "Fact Check" exposed as propaganda on You tube.

What a pathetic video!

Freya, I assume you are talking about Mahyar Tousi. He, and all the rest of the Liz Truss fan club at the Institute of Economic affairs, can definitely be trusted when they talk about the BBC and any other non-free market institution.

And I have a bridge you might be interested in…

In my opinion BBC reporting has a pretty tight connection with the truth. It's the politicians who appear on the BBC who often have a loose connection with the truth.

For some time people have complained bitterly about the BBC and its apparent loose connection with the truth. Yet in among all of this is the journalist Ros Atkins, who produces fantastic brief videos explaining key pieces of news. Such is his talent for communication, his videos are frequently used in schools to help young people understand current affairs. He is now part of a new significant team launched by the BBC to help journalism meet rigorous editorial standards in a world of mis- and disinformation and AI.
